Travel Tips from people who've been to Olinda
Try eating "Tapioca" and "Alto da Sé" Good tip? (+2) Olinda is a very nice town full of small colourful houses, steep stone roads and an imposant old church on the small hill above the town. Only for this, Olinda is definitely worth seeing! Moreover, it has a beach to cool yourself in the hot summer and beautiful view from it's upper part where you can also find lots of nice shops with art and typical products (don't forget to buy some!). And, as my Brazilian friends (not from Olinda) always mention, the best Brazilian carnaval takes place in Olinda ;) Personally, i didn't get the chance to visit this town in carnaval period, but from what i've seen on the pictures, it surely has a special atmosphere which can't be compared to big Rio's carnaval etc, where you don't get an opportunity to interact with locals and participate on the carneval in the way you do in in this small town. But Olinda has its unique atmosphere all year around and i highly recommend to visit this town! :) Good tip? (0) Lovely town!!! Take a tour with one of the local "free" travel guides, waiting for you at the central square. You can tip the guide as much as you think is reasonable. This is their way to stay of the streets and earn honest money. Take some extra money with you if you're interested in local art! Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Olinda
