Northeastern Brazil People & Culture
Mucuripe, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Mucuripe is part of Fortaleza in Brazil more or less at the eastern End of the Fortaleza Beach Front. About 20 min. walk from the city center. Still quite safe, compared to Rio or São Paolo. Good restaurants and very nice beaches. Big square in the city center with bars and some clubs, close to the Cultural Center. A lot of young people and good Caipirinhas for about 1.2€ or 2$. To the east and west of Fortaleza huge beaches with dunes where you can have a trip with a buggy! The coast is also well known among kitesurfers Good tip? (0) Joao Pessoa, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Joao Pessoa is quiet Brazilian city, located right under the Equator. The city has a nice atmosphere and is relatively safe for travellers, even though caution is always advised. Less than two hours from hot spots like Natal and Recife, Joao Pessoa is still less touristical and for that, much cheaper to visit and shop!
The bus system is pretty good, but car rentals or taxis are always a good option. There are many nice malls, and an entire building dedicated to local handcraft where yuo can buy unique and pretty cheap gifts for people at home. Tambau and Manaira are nice beaches about 15 minutes from the city center where you can just sit and enjoy the sun with a chilly caipirinha! Don´t forget to visit the pretty beaches outside of the city like Jacuma or Coqueirinho, you´ll feel like you´re lost in paradise.
Watching the sunset in Jacaré is an absolute MUST. There are many bars and restaurants in the area and when the moment approaches, they all play Ravel´s bolero while we just gasp!Romantic and unique!
The city also has some historical buildings, like the convent of Sao Francisco, famous for it´s barroque ceiling.
Joao Pessoa might not be in most Brazilian guides, but I definitely reccomend it! Go, before everyone finds out about it! Good tip? (0) Recife, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil I love people . Weather is perfect and beaches are beautiful. And shopping centre in amazing. And near Recife is most beautiful place in the world PORTO DE GALINHAS Good tip? (0) Jericoacoara, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Jericoacoara beach is definitely something that has to be experienced if you´re travelling in Brazil. An amazing old hippie beach, great people and nearby lagoons. If you go, make sure that you have enough time just to relax and enjoy the sun sets. Good tip? (0) Itaparica, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil It's amazing in Brazil. The people are very friendly and open and where I've been you really doesn't feel like a tourist.
Itaparica is an island, which is about 40 boat-minutes away from Salvador.
You can relax and eat specialities of Brazil.
You have to go there and see it yourself! Good tip? (0) Mucuripe, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Mucuripe is part of Fortaleza in Brazil more or less at the eastern End of the Fortaleza Beach Front. (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil SALVADOR, PRIMEIRA CAPITAL DO BRASIL ! PERMANECEU DURANTE 214 ANOS (1549-1763). HOJE É MUNDIALMENTE FAMOSA POR SER A TERRA DO MELHOR CARNAVAL DE RUA, JUNTO COM NEW ORLEANS E POR SER "THE BALCK CULTURAL HUB OF THE WORLD". DEPOIS DA ÁFRICA, SALVADOR É A CIDADE AONDE TEM MAIS NEGROS NO MUNDO. DEPOIS DA ESPAÑA, SALVADOR É A CIDADE AONDE TEM MAIS ESPANHÓIS ORGANIZADOS NO MUNDO TAMBÉM. Mais informaçoes: www.salvador.ba.gov.br www.centraldocarnaval.com.br www.bahia.com.br Good tip? Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Salvador is a great city! Its inhabitants are reaxed, open-minded, spontanious, party people, in short: your typical Brazilian. Do watch out for the salesman, they can be a bit of a hassle. But on the whole, it is a nice, sunny city that has something for everything, for the culture seekers, the party animals, and the sun lovers. It has a little harbor from where boats leave to for example Morro de São Paulo, which deserves some of your time. When you're in Salvador you never want to leave again! Good tip? (0) Fortaleza, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil This city, declared World's Heritage by UNESCO, is one of the most beautiful of Brazil. I recomend a visit to Pelourinho by day and by night, because is very interesting and there are a lot of musical shows. Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Salvador is loud and fun and beautiful. Several times a week, the batería (drumbands that walk the streets) hits the streets... It's great fun to follow them, dance to the rythm and enjoy the energy. Apart from the music and the beautiful colonial buidings, the province of Bahia is famous for it's great food. Don't forget to sample moqueque, a lovely dish of seafood, coconut and spices. Most portions in Brazilian restaurants easily serve two, so if you are travelling alone (as I was), this might be a great chance to invite some streetkids for a bite. Good tip? (0) Nossa Senhora do O, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil If possible, go to a local party!! They put uo food stands and use an open field to set up stages and music... Forró dancing with locals... no tourists!! Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil See Olodum, see any live music you can. I had no money when I was in Salvador, and it wasn't a good place to be. It is reasonably expensive, and the beach isn't good enough to sit at all day. Pelhourinho is a wonderful spot in the city, but also v. dangerous. Always cab home from the venue. I wouldn't recommend leaving the back of the Barra Mall after a late movie either. Very Scary street to find yourself on. Good tip? (0) Natal, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Don't miss the "buggy" rides on the dunes in Natal Seafood - Barraca do Caranguejo - live music and good food on the seafront Good tip? (0) Tibau do Sul, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Make sure you have lunch at the main beach restaurants (stands)... fresh fish with an awsome view! And if you want to pamper yourself with a nice massage of you are feeling you deserve a spa-like treatment, spend the day at Ponta do Pirambú day-spa, beautiful infinity pool, excellent food and all kind of relaxing services everyday until 5 pm. Good tip? (0) Paripueira, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil In the first restaurant on the beach, coming from Maceió, they have the best fish you can have. If you don't like too much agitation, avoid the Carnival week. Good tip? (0) Canoa Quebrada, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil To eat fresh fish at the beach with traditional FAROFA, is just a must! Delicious.
Don't forget to talk with the fishermen meanwhile...they have wonderfull stories to tell. If they are true or not...don't even try to find out. Good tip? (0) Amazonas, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil When traveling to Brazil for a fishing trip, take extra fishing line, in particular sample packs that you can give to the locals. They really appreciate new fishing line, and things like hooks and clothes. Deep in the interior especially the local natives appreciate this and like to trade for things like this. Good tip? (0) Pipa, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil The vacation spot to chill and do completely nothing!
A small street with all the shops and bars where the locals will take you into the brazillian night life. Drink some caprinia's or caipiroski's and dance your ass off! The tapa's bars are all great to go! If you have a hangover and want an easy start of the day go to club ZAZA for a great cup of coffee or fresh orange juice and enjoy the world magic view from one of their white lounge couches! If you like hiking, please go to Pipa central beach on low tide in the morning and take a left (if you look towards the ocean). Walk about one half hour and you'll pass by three major beaches. At the last beach you will find a small restaurant where the drinks and food are amazing! Say hello to the surfboy and maybye he'll teach you surfing! You can enjoy the sun and the swimming with dolfins This is worth a trip for relaxing, enjoy Good tip? (0) Olinda, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Try eating "Tapioca" and "Alto da Sé" Good tip? (+2) Recife, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Ciudad muy bonita. Recomiendo el carnaval de Olinda y la playa de Boa Viagem. Good tip? (+1) Porto Seguro, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Porto Seguro was the first city in Brazil discovered. Good tip? (0) Ilheus, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Ilheus - Bahia - Brasil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good tip? (0) Joao Pessoa, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil JP is an unfriendly and dirty city. When my wife and I arrived the city, we were attacked by juveniles armed with apples (!). We found a ok hotel in the city centre and left for Olinda the very next day.
