The people are beautiful, the beaches are beautiful and the food is excellent and CHEAP. The downside is that you really need to either stay in safe areas, or have some Brazilian friends if you really want to venture out. Luckily, I had met an exchange student in the U.S. before I travelled to Rio. Once I got there, he took me to all of the cool clubs, the best beaches that tourists don't know about, and restaurants off the beaten path. I never would have seen Rio this way if it was not for him! Good tip? (+1) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Cidade Maravilhosa ! Nice beaches, great people and a lot of nature! Good tip? (+1) Caraguatatuba, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Beautiful little town on the coast of Brazil, has a couple of great food places, nice beaches and people are really friendly. Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil For the best night life in Rio de Janeiro there is only one place: Lapa. Samba, Chorro, Electronic, Hip Hop, MPB, they got it all. But the best is the street atmosphere. There must be more people hanging around on the streets and drinking and dancing than there are inside the Clubs. My favorites are: Beco de Rato, Clube do Samba Democraticus and Circo Voador Good tip? (0) Mucuripe, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Mucuripe is part of Fortaleza in Brazil more or less at the eastern End of the Fortaleza Beach Front. About 20 min. walk from the city center. Still quite safe, compared to Rio or São Paolo. Good restaurants and very nice beaches. Big square in the city center with bars and some clubs, close to the Cultural Center. A lot of young people and good Caipirinhas for about 1.2€ or 2$. To the east and west of Fortaleza huge beaches with dunes where you can have a trip with a buggy! The coast is also well known among kitesurfers Good tip? (0) About three-quarters of all Brazilians belong to the Roman Catholic Church; 15% are members of a growing Protestant evangelical movement, below 1% follow Voodoo and other African religions. Atheists and others make up the rest. Last edited Dec 2, 08 8:24 PM. Contributors: Contributors: Andrew W. Portuguese (official), Spanish, English, French. Last edited Dec 2, 08 8:24 PM. (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil SALVADOR, PRIMEIRA CAPITAL DO BRASIL ! PERMANECEU DURANTE 214 ANOS (1549-1763). HOJE É MUNDIALMENTE FAMOSA POR SER A TERRA DO MELHOR CARNAVAL DE RUA, JUNTO COM NEW ORLEANS E POR SER "THE BALCK CULTURAL HUB OF THE WORLD". DEPOIS DA ÁFRICA, SALVADOR É A CIDADE AONDE TEM MAIS NEGROS NO MUNDO. DEPOIS DA ESPAÑA, SALVADOR É A CIDADE AONDE TEM MAIS ESPANHÓIS ORGANIZADOS NO MUNDO TAMBÉM. (0) Buzios, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Learn Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese before going because both cultures travel to this island. Good tip? (0) Ouro Preto, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil If you are interested in visiting the city for it´s cultural heritage and unique architecture and desire not to be bothered by ceaseless parties, beware of february when brazilian carnival takes place. The city has a huge universitarian population, and parties go wild with young people coming from the whole country. BUT if party is what you seek, you may find one of the most special niches in Brazil to celebrate carnival, away from the tourist-trap-mainstream eventys in Rio. Good tip? (0) Sao Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Horrible to look at, poluted city...but one my favourites. Amazing restaurants to choose, great nightlife and a cultural must in Brazil. Stay in Jardins area. You can find the nicest 4 and 5 star hotels as well as "flat-services" where you will have a more homelike feeling with the services of a big hotel. Avoid getting money from the wall after 9pm since most banks won´t allow you to get large amounts after 10 due to safety reasons. Even though it may sound strange it isn´t a dangerous city. Unless you take the tube for 30 min, a bus for 30 min more and walk 15 minutes in a dark far neighbourhood. I guess that this isn´t in anybody´s plans when visiting any city. I feel safer in Sao Paulo than in downtown madrid sometimes. And they say that we are Europe... Gay nightlife is one of the best in the world. Check the sites available for what and when to do. Options are for EVERY taste. Remember that the city isn´t a place to experience during daylight. It´s more for those nocturnal people who like to enjoy what darkness has to offer. People are mostly kind and polite and will be willing to help you if you don´t push it too far. Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil This city, declared World's Heritage by UNESCO, is one of the most beautiful of Brazil. I recomend a visit to Pelourinho by day and by night, because is very interesting and there are a lot of musical shows. Good tip? (0) Belo Horizonte, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Freud Bar raletively cheap... only on weekends... with good live music... but you should definately reserve the table among the branches one week in advance if it rains don't go by car... Good tip? (0) Salvador, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Salvador is loud and fun and beautiful. Several times a week, the batería (drumbands that walk the streets) hits the streets... It's great fun to follow them, dance to the rythm and enjoy the energy. Apart from the music and the beautiful colonial buidings, the province of Bahia is famous for it's great food. Don't forget to sample moqueque, a lovely dish of seafood, coconut and spices. Most portions in Brazilian restaurants easily serve two, so if you are travelling alone (as I was), this might be a great chance to invite some streetkids for a bite. Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil - The nightlife in Rio de Janeiro is incredible. Whether you like Hip Hop, Trance, or Rock, Rio's many bars and clubs will fit your style. Most of the clubs included in our packages have multiple rooms with different styles of music.
- The best part about Rio de Janeiro's nightlife is the people. Not only are they some of the sexiest on earth, Rio's locals love to party and are very friendly.
- Unlike other huge party cities, Rio's nightlife is spread out all over the city. The hottest clubs are not in the tourist areas like Miami's South Beach or L.A.'s Sunset Strip. If you are not a local, it will be hard to find the hottest spot each night of your stay and if you do find it, it will be difficult to get past the huge lines and bouncers, who do not speak English. -- Location of Club: Barra de Tijuca -- Location of Club: Copacabana --Location of Club: Ipanema -- Location of Club: Downtown Good tip? (0) Nossa Senhora do O, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil If possible, go to a local party!! They put uo food stands and use an open field to set up stages and music... Forró dancing with locals... no tourists!! Good tip? (0) Niteroi, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil The Modern Art Museum in Niteroi is amazing! A must see if you get a chance. Bus (Double Check this cause my memory is foggy) No. 91 goes from Botofogo to Niteroi (I think it also runs through the city centre), and there is also a ferry you can catch from the city centre (though it is either another bus from the ferry or a bit of a hike.) Good tip? (0) Bonito, Central-Western Brazil, Brazil Rio Preto is an incredibly crytal clear river close to Bonito that delivers an unforgettable snorkeling experience in the midst of thousands of fishes big and small. The river is so clear because the water contains the same substances as do water filters and make the water crystal clear by binding all dirt and make it fall to the bottom. Good tip? (0) Santos, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Th biggest garden on beach line
The city that I live, delicious, plan, warm, secure and you can walk for anyplace, or ride bike, do sports...is a good life! Good tip? (0) Tibau do Sul, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Make sure you have lunch at the main beach restaurants (stands)... fresh fish with an awsome view! And if you want to pamper yourself with a nice massage of you are feeling you deserve a spa-like treatment, spend the day at Ponta do Pirambú day-spa, beautiful infinity pool, excellent food and all kind of relaxing services everyday until 5 pm. Good tip? (0) Paripueira, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil In the first restaurant on the beach, coming from Maceió, they have the best fish you can have. If you don't like too much agitation, avoid the Carnival week. Good tip? (0) Sao Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil You need to eat Brigadiero...it's the best desert in the world. Good tip? (+5) Sao Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Go to Rubayat Baby Beef for your best ever meat experience ! Good tip? (+2) Olinda, Northeastern Brazil, Brazil Try eating "Tapioca" and "Alto da Sé" Good tip?
