Southeastern Brazil People & Culture
Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Rio is a city filled with just about everything desirable and undesirable in a city of its size. The people are beautiful, the beaches are beautiful and the food is excellent and CHEAP. The downside is that you really need to either stay in safe areas, or have some Brazilian friends if you really want to venture out. Luckily, I had met an exchange student in the U.S. before I travelled to Rio. Once I got there, he took me to all of the cool clubs, the best beaches that tourists don't know about, and restaurants off the beaten path. I never would have seen Rio this way if it was not for him! Good tip? (+1) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Cidade Maravilhosa ! Nice beaches, great people and a lot of nature! Good tip? (+1) Caraguatatuba, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Beautiful little town on the coast of Brazil, has a couple of great food places, nice beaches and people are really friendly. Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil For the best night life in Rio de Janeiro there is only one place: Lapa. Samba, Chorro, Electronic, Hip Hop, MPB, they got it all. But the best is the street atmosphere. There must be more people hanging around on the streets and drinking and dancing than there are inside the Clubs. My favorites are: Beco de Rato, Clube do Samba Democraticus and Circo Voador Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil A lot of polution, a lot of cars, a lot of people, a very very very huge city, and don't even try to cross a road ... god, where is the magic city of my dreams !!! Good tip? (0) Buzios, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Learn Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese before going because both cultures travel to this island. Good tip? (0) Ouro Preto, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil If you are interested in visiting the city for it´s cultural heritage and unique architecture and desire not to be bothered by ceaseless parties, beware of february when brazilian carnival takes place. The city has a huge universitarian population, and parties go wild with young people coming from the whole country. BUT if party is what you seek, you may find one of the most special niches in Brazil to celebrate carnival, away from the tourist-trap-mainstream eventys in Rio. Good tip? (0) Sao Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Horrible to look at, poluted city...but one my favourites. Amazing restaurants to choose, great nightlife and a cultural must in Brazil. Stay in Jardins area. You can find the nicest 4 and 5 star hotels as well as "flat-services" where you will have a more homelike feeling with the services of a big hotel. Avoid getting money from the wall after 9pm since most banks won´t allow you to get large amounts after 10 due to safety reasons. Even though it may sound strange it isn´t a dangerous city. Unless you take the tube for 30 min, a bus for 30 min more and walk 15 minutes in a dark far neighbourhood. I guess that this isn´t in anybody´s plans when visiting any city. I feel safer in Sao Paulo than in downtown madrid sometimes. And they say that we are Europe... Gay nightlife is one of the best in the world. Check the sites available for what and when to do. Options are for EVERY taste. Remember that the city isn´t a place to experience during daylight. It´s more for those nocturnal people who like to enjoy what darkness has to offer. People are mostly kind and polite and will be willing to help you if you don´t push it too far. Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Rio has to be my second favorite city. Awesome food, awesome people, overall awesome culture. Make sure you eat at a churrascarilla while your there. Copacabana Beach is everything its cracked up to be. Ipanema is chill too. Copa is a more tourist oriented area..if you want to hang with the locals, kick it at Ipanema. Brazilians are awesome people. Just dont venture out into the barrios by yourself. The nightlife will blow your mind--craziest country in the world regarding parties. Good tip? (0) Tiradentes, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Tem uma igreja ai que tem 480kg de ouro... a segunda maior quantidade de ouro numa igreja no Brasil. Good tip? (0) Belo Horizonte, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Freud Bar raletively cheap... only on weekends... with good live music... but you should definately reserve the table among the branches one week in advance if it rains don't go by car... Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil - The nightlife in Rio de Janeiro is incredible. Whether you like Hip Hop, Trance, or Rock, Rio's many bars and clubs will fit your style. Most of the clubs included in our packages have multiple rooms with different styles of music.
- The best part about Rio de Janeiro's nightlife is the people. Not only are they some of the sexiest on earth, Rio's locals love to party and are very friendly.
- Unlike other huge party cities, Rio's nightlife is spread out all over the city. The hottest clubs are not in the tourist areas like Miami's South Beach or L.A.'s Sunset Strip. If you are not a local, it will be hard to find the hottest spot each night of your stay and if you do find it, it will be difficult to get past the huge lines and bouncers, who do not speak English. -- Location of Club: Barra de Tijuca -- Location of Club: Copacabana --Location of Club: Ipanema -- Location of Club: Downtown Good tip? (0) Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, Brazil Go out in neigbourhood Lapa, especially nightclub Rio Scenarium, a kolonial building filled with antiques and live music on three stages and not too many tourists (you will have to wait in line for a while, but plenty of outside bars next to the line and nice people to get to know..) Bus (Double Check this cause my memory is foggy) No. 91 goes from Botofogo to Niteroi (I think it also runs through the city centre), and there is also a ferry you can catch from the city centre (though it is either another bus from the ferry or a bit of a hike.)
