It effected me when I tried to smoke in a restaurant because smoking is not allowed in any public place except the streets. There is nothing to do downtown. You can walk around but there is nothing interesting to find except few restaurants, international food shops and things like that. People seem to be bored and they are not very friendly or talkative. I couldn' t realize what's their problem. If you want to relax go to the beach on other side of the Island because Tortola has probably the nicest beaches in the Caribbean. However I wouldn't recommend this island to the people willing to party unless you come with a group of friends. In that case the place doesn't metter at all! Good tip? (+1) Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands Virgin Gorda is just a beautiful island with white sandy beaches and friendly people who really are nice to meet and talk to. The Baths are a great park and beach that everyone must see if you go there. The water taxis are the only way get around on the islands because they also provide transportation to other spots and the bars and restruants are a great find venture out and go to the smaller one to find the local flavor and food. Good tip? (0) Anegada, British Virgin Islands Anegada is one of the smaller British Virgin Islands, not far from Puerto Rico. Usually you take a small plane from San Juan to Tortola and from there a small 4-6 seater to the Anegada Airport (which is more of a 'shack'). Don't let that discourage you, though! We stayed at Lavenda Breeze, owned by George Brown, which was absolutely beautiful! The private beach was also lovely. The people were friendly, and while there isn't a lot to do there, except eat wonderful food, it truly is a 'vacation' - a time away from the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend it to those who would like to get away, watch some TV, read a few good books, bask on a private beach, snorkle and generally get away from it all! Good tip? (0) Tortola, British Virgin Islands Public transportation is non-existant and taxis are expensive. In small groups (1-3 people), hitchiking is reletively easy, but if you get stuck walking the terrain is hilly with very steep gradients. Good tip? (0) Mainly Christian, including Methodist (45%), Anglican (21%) and Roman Catholic (6%). Last edited Dec 4, 08 8:19 AM. Contributors: Contributors: Andrew W. English. Last edited Dec 4, 08 8:20 AM. You should definitely check out the sunset over Cane Garden Bay and the lights out St Thomas at night. For great drinks right on the beach, you must visit Stanley's. For live music and drinks, try Quito's, home to Quito Rhymer. Good tip? (0) Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands go see The Baths! they're massive rock formations, that create caves and tunnels. theres also good snorkeling. go early to avoid the tour buses. Good tip?
