Balchik Travel Guide

Balchik was amazing. The people spoke Romanian, being so close to the RO border, they had the menus in RO, you could pay with RO money. what more to do to attract tourists? the place is kept tidy and clean, the way they build new buildings in the small town is obeying some architectural style and same tendencies as to make the resort very eye-pleasing. We found accommodation at some locals, through the tourist information office. quite cheap and they were friendly. a must see is the Palace of the RO queen Marie, with its lovely gardens, little lakes, flowers, wine tasting and nice cafe :)

Nice botanical garden next to residence of former Romanian princes... and that would ba all folks! The sleepy atmosphere of that city is nice. Don't use organized trips from Golden Sands. Much more cheeper is to go by your own. Go further to cape Kaliakra - not so important. You can go, but if not - you will not miss to much.

Not more than 10 km away (south) from Balchik you can find the Aladja Monastery - it is a marvelous place with the monastery situated in the cliff and a gorgeous botanical garden/ park with smart guides in several languages.
