Central Bulgaria Travel Guide

Beautiful colorful old town, one of the oldest town of Europe : Philippopolis, Trimontium, Plovdiv. Now built on seven hills.

Dryanovo... a hamlet of 8000 nestled between Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo.  7km outside of town is a famous Monestary and the Bacho Kiro Cave/Eco trail.  Inside town, its the small town feel... like Mayberry in the old Andy Griffth TV show in the US.  It has a museum dedicated to Kolio Ficheto, a famous Bulgarian architech.   There isn't a lot to see here, considering Tryavna,  Veliko Tarnovo and even the industrial looking Gabrovo has more points of interest.  However, if you want a real look at Bulgarian life away from the tourist traps, then this is it.  There are 2 large hotels here that usually accomodate the travelling Footballers that play here.  

Must see is an Ortodox Church, where local people were prisoned and murdered by osman turks during the war for independence, which ended in 1878.
There is an exhibition concerning that and incident.
On the main square you can have a little bit of shopska salata and kebabtsheta por local coffee.
Not far away from the city there is a charming lake!
