Going there is the best tip by itself.

Anyways, if you go, don't eat the crab in green pepper in Kep already, on Rabbit Island it will cost you less than half.

Also when going, take the boat at the tourist information, and tell them you don't want the tour, just get over there, another 5$ saved.

And be sure to take quite a stash of money, as the next ATM is in Kampot, so crossing over to just get some cash and coming back will cost you about 20$.
