Travel Tips from people who've been to Edmonton
A must is the West Edmonton Mall. It has attractions for everyone...water park, dolphin show, tide pools and penguins, ice rink, hotel, Imax theatre and many shops. Good tip? (+1) Well, I can't tell you about public transport, accommodation or the city centre because I stayed with family of friends. But they dropped me off at the Edmonton Mall for the day. It is HUGE. There are heaps of movie theatres (I lost count) including an IMax theatre or more. There is a large indoor wave pool with people surfing and everything. Gun and golf driving ranges. An aquarium with real live dolphin shows and a submarine to show you the other fish. Then there are mega amounts of shops that you would expect in a mall. Good tip? (0) Boring city overall so perhaps the best tip I could give is: not to go... The University of Alberta is situated there for the students, but like Calgary further south, there's little to do when you compare it to large cities back East or Vancouver in the West. West Edmonton Mall is it's hallmark tourist attraction I'd say, but overall it's got the same shops you'll see in any North American city. Don't expect much from the city if you go. Good tip? (0)
