Chemainus is the town of murals.  In the 80s when the town hit some hard times, it hired a bunch of painters to paint murals all over the place.  Today there is 30 some murals that attracts visitors to make it world famous.  It's a decent place to hang out for a couple of hours.  Chemainus is about 30 minutes south of Nanaimo.

Samll town on Vancouver Island. At first glance not much to see but after looking a bit closer you be surprised...
Beautiful murals on the old buildings everywhere. Quite something to see. If I remember correctly there's also an aquarium you can go and visit...
