I'm pretty picky about my Greek restaurants.  In fact, all the years that I lived in Montreal I never found something I liked, and boy did I try many!   To me, the one and only Greek restaurant out there was Socrates in Burnaby, BC, and it really was a shame because I don't live in Burnaby anymore and I really do love greek food!

So I find myself in Kamloops and I'm told there is a restaurant that might compare.  Interest piqued, I asked if we could go.

Minos is owned by a Montrealer (funny enough) named George who greeted us with great enthusiasm when we walked through the door.

On the recommendation, we ordered their Roast Lamb (my benchmark) and calamari.

I was very pleasantly surprised.  The two dishes were about $19, and the portions were quite large, piled high with greek salad, rice, pita bread, tzatziki and large portions of meat.  The lamb - which was slow roasted for 4 hours fell off the bone.  Very tender and delicious.  The calamari was delicious and on my plate in abundance.

I'm loyal as heck so Socrates is still my favourite, but if Minos was local to me I'd definitely go there any day.

Came here for Sunday brunch wanting to find something a little bit different.  Hoodoos Bar at Sun Rivers is situated at the Sun Rivers at the north side of the Thompson River which means a beautiful view of the valley and the mountains and hoodoos on the other side.

The Hoodoos restaurant doesn't actually have a brunch menu, but the breakfast menu includes items such as eggs benedict, french toast and banana bread.  Our table got all of those items, and everything was well prepared and the prices were fairly reasonable.  The waitress was attentive, so when combined with the view, was well worth it.  Breakfast ranged from $7.95 to $11.95, while dinners ranged between $16.95 $25.95

I was in Kamloops, BC for a conference.........the hotel was pretty and the people were great. I met some new friends who took me shopping but then we found ourselves driving the wrong way down a one way street.......now my story is that I almost bit it in Kamloops, BC!!  lol.......otherwise, the scenery is the some of the most beautiful that I've seen...........the plane ride through the Rockies to get to Kamloops? Not desirable at all............take a sickness bag with you.............keep it handy.............
