British Columbia Natural Environment
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Vancouver is a fun and easy place to go to!!Amazing weather, therefore .......easy packing-no need for umbrella, suntan lotion, one sweather is enough,no coat,no rainboots,no sunglasses. Good tip? (0) Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada I love living here, though it's not without its negatives. Nightlife can be a little lame, especially if you've been to other big cities. Bars and restaurants can close very early. Absolutely nothing beats the views though. Waking up to mountains is extraordinary. Vancouver has so many outdoor things to do - great trails, lots of lovely islands that are a quick ferry ride away, and the ocean. Despite the heavy rain, it is a very mild city compared to the rest of Canada, so if you don't like the snow, but like to ski, it's the perfect place. Traffic is another big nightmare in Vancouver, so be prepared to spend some time in a jam, or finding creative ways to get around town. Vancouver has very dedicated cyclists, though, so you can find lots of great bike routes through the city. And the milder weather always encourages a walk. It's a pretty open and welcoming city. LBGT travellers will feel comfortable here - and can check out hotspots like Davie, Main Street, or Commercial Drive. Like much of metropolitan Canada, it is a fairly multicultural city as well. Good tip? (0) Merritt, British Columbia, Canada Country Music Capital of the world!! A small growing town with a great climate. Only 2 and a half hours from Vancouver! Lots of lakes near-by with excellent fishing. Good tip? (0) Victoria, British Columbia, Canada I fell in love with Victoria instantly. I came here because when I was in college, I read that Victoria, B.C. along with Geneva, Switzerland (I still haven't been there) were the Satan Worship Capitals of the world.
Not that I am a Satanist, but I merely had a morbid curiosity about why someone would write that. When I got there, I was awed by how clean the city was and how religious tolerant the city was. I recall that near the water front area, a young man, maybe 18, was giving a speech and was eloquently proclaiming that all religions unlock a truth when looked at hollistically.
I was in a Greek restaurant when I heard the music of Ottmar Lieber, the famous Spanish guitarist, while in Victoria. That was 1992. I went there once more and it's been 10 years since I last went to Victoria. I could see myself retiring in Victoria someday. It's such a tranquil city with fairly moderate weather nestled all by itself on Vancouver Island only a 4 hour drive from incredibly breathtaking fiords near Port Alberni. Good tip? (0) Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Vancouver is an awesome place. Full of attractions, going kayaking, skiing in winter (Whistler nearby). The weather however - be prepare for drizzle even if it says it will be a sunny day. People are nice, downtown is cool - Canada place. It's nice to take the bus that will take you around the Vancouver island. That way you'll have the view on the whole skyline. Really nice and romantic. Enjoy your holiday! Good tip?
