033You will definitely need a car when visiting this small island, but hitch hiking is completely accepted in this small community. There are 3 major wineries, one of which (Mistaken Identity) has only been open to the public for 9 weeks!
Salt Spring Island Cheese as many delicious flavors of goat cheese, like peppercorn, basil and sun-dried tomato to name a few. Chocolate Beach has decadent fudge that's not too sweet. You can also try famous Salt Spring Coffee that was packed on a Saturday afternoon.
We stayed at Absolutely Salt Spring (a semi self catering b & b), which is closer to the village of Vesuvius and our hostess was more than helpful and served us a delicious breakfast.
We hope to be going back for the Apple Festival later this month and it's so affordable to go just for the day with BC Ferries as you don't have to pay to get off the island, just to get there. :)
