Its a popular area for fisherman and sports enthusiasts, with places like campbell river, which caters for your fishing needs and Torfino for surfing and other related water sports. Vancouver island has a great selection of restaurants and nightlife in various towns, which caters for the need for everyone.

The real reason for visiting Vancouver Island, is for the wildlife. the British Columbia area is popular to see various wildlife, such as the native brown bear, cougar and golden eagle. But its real popularity is through the tourist driven whale watching. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing whales in their natural habit. It's a completely different and mind blowing experience compared to seeing them being trained by humans. I got the chance to go kayaking with them in the open ocean. Which is something I am proud to have experienced, especially when the killer whale breached near to where we were kayaking. I also was lucky enough to see grey whales around the West coast of Vancouver Island in a Town called Torfino. It is definitely a once in a life time experience, one i would love to go back and experience soon. I would recommend this to anyone.
