Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Are you traveling on a tight budget? Do you want to use every hard-earned nickel for sites, museums, activities, and other? Do you only need a bed and a shower? If so, consider staying at a college or university. Many institutions in Halifax offer dorm rooms or apartments to travelers for a modest fee. This is true in other areas arount the world as well. These institutions are often in great locations or at the very least well cnnected to The time of year may play a factor in room availability, but it is worth the effort to check no matter what the season. In all my stays, I have had a clean room, climate-controlled, and enjoyable experience.
Good journeys! Good tip? (+1) Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada If this isn't the coldest place on earth in wintertime then I don't want to go anywhere colder! Minus 27 degrees Celsius with windchill! But I had a good time.
Can't tell you about accommodation as I stayed with friends of friends. But public transport is good.
The centre for the local first nations tribes was a great place to visit. I had a meeting with a representative and swapped some similarities and differences between the native people and Maori.
I went to a high school ice hockey game with the family I stayed with. Wicked!!! Smashing into the perspex and so fast. If I couldn't watch rugby or league, this would be the game to watch!
Good shopping and lots of history. Very good museum to visit. I would like to go back in the summer to compare. Good tip? (0) Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada Regina is one of the most slowest cities I've ever seen. So if you are planning to come here I hope you have very good reasons. I spent in Regina almost 4 month in winter. Weather is very tough (-50C sometimes) and air is extremely dry. Get ready to it. Good tip? (0) Westlock, Alberta, Canada Westlock is a town that is about an hourish north of Edmonton and is home to the world's largest tractor weather vane. It's located on the western edge of town at the tractor museum. There is also a skydiving outfit located here if you want to make a jump or two. Good tip? (0) St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada When travelling to St. John's make sure you leave a few extra days for weather. Snowfalls in winter (from October to May) may stop the planes, roads, boats, etc. Good tip? (0) |
