Toronto People & Culture
Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nice place. people are very friendly and polite. it's quite clean. the CN tower is must see. and go out on the glass deck and look down, scary. The Paramount attraction park (if remembered correctly) is great. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Toronto is a fantastic city year-round but truly comes alive in the summer when students, big business people, everyone, comes out at night to eat on terrassed restaurants, watch some sports at the local pub, and enjoy the few months of warmth! My favorite part of TO is the influence immigration has had on the city - you can find just about anything from anywhere, especially Asia! Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada The city is the safest place of the world, I guess. People are generally non-Canadian but friendly. The place I like most is Harbour Front because you can watch the lake, Toronto Island, sit on the grass, CN Tower at back and the tall shiny buildings at the same time. Sitting there is really relaxing. You can't find taxi whenever you want, if you find one, the driver might not know the roads. I myself directed the taxi driver even to the intersection of Yonge-Bloor. The intersection of Yonge and Bloor is not the best place to spend time. Dundas is better, more crowded, more activities, more shopping places. The subway stops in every 100 meters. So if you should go no more than 2 stations, walking is better. Because you spend all your time under ground and seing nothing. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Bloor street downtown is dangerous. Some people are a tad cracked out. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada This city is really diverse, lots of differen't cultural area's.
There are alot of East indians in Toronto and their China town is very good. Hotels downtown are very expensive. And it takes 30 minutes to go 3 miles in traffic. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada If you don't want to visit American places, but still want to be in one of world's biggest towns, with a lot of cultural diversity and a little European reflection: choose Toronto! Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Toronto is a salad bowl of all cultures so when you visit make sure you go to all the lil areas Kensington Market: Latin American/Mexican cuisine Greek Town: Greek Food Little Italy: The $5 Cocktails on Friday Night (Eat my martini) Lebanese: Anywhere in downtown. Try Pita Land on Gerrard St near Neill Wycik.. its amazing! Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Toronto is the biggest city in Canada. This is a really nice city and every year you can see development of the culture directly on the street and architecture of building that make this city a must to see in Canada. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Love Toronto. Good food, good shopping, and lovely people. Cant wait to get back up north. Look up Noah Pred, Greg Gow, and Arthur Oskan - if you want to hear some great house and techno music. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada If you love electronic and techno music, go to Circa! Its an amazing club, always packed on fridays, and has a crazy robot/bunny room for all you crazy candy lovers! A great cheap meal for 5 dollars at the Pizza Slice place downtown - there's a few of them - you can get a massive slice with a drink and its open till am hours. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Music fans must check out the Mod Club if a good band is playing there. It's the best small concert venue in town. I've seen local group Dragonette, Aussie Ben Lee, and Brit group the Ting Tings there, all fabulous concerts. Very intimate atmosphere, many of the headliners will join the fun in the club after the show. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada The loveliest way to discover Toronto is to rent a bike and take a tour along the riverside, through the villa lanes and the beautiful nature/parks around the city (especially in fall) Good tip? My favorite part of TO is the influence immigration has had on the city - you can find just about anything from anywhere, especially Asia! Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Take the subway to downtown, and find Yonge Street. It reminds me of the United States but brings some European flair along. It takes you down to the waterside where you can't oversee CN tower. The view from CN tower down is amazing, on clear days you can see Niagara Falls, but almost everyone needs a binocular for that. From 480m above ground everything seems to be shrinked to the size of ants. the glass floor let you know if you agrre with that. And if you're interested in sports, sthe stadium is right besides. Home of the Argonauts (CFL) for ex. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Stay at the Novotel on the Esplanade. I stayed here many times before I actually lived in the city. It's on a quiet side street, yet close to shopping, theatres, restaurants, and all the major sports venues. Just a short walk to St. Lawrence Market, where you must try a peameal sandwich from Carousel Bakery. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada For a pub that is as old as dirt, check out the Wheat Sheaf. It's nothing special, but it's historic. Popular on sports nights before, after, and during the game. Good tip? (0) Toronto, Ontario, Canada Beerbistro is a must visit for anyone who loves beer with food. Too much time and effort has been spent on pairing wine with food, when what one really wants is a beer. At Beer Bistro, they use their pallets to choose which beers got best with each meal. An AMAZING selection of beers (and their Frites are great, too)!
Their lunch menu is reasonably priced for those on a budget. Good tip? (+1) Toronto, Ontario, Canada The Bata Shoe Museum is well worth the time and ticket price. Even for those who are not shoe lovers will enjoy this walk through history. This stop is filled with histrical shoe facts, preservation information, artwork (in shoe form), and of course shoes! Good tip? (+1) Toronto, Ontario, Canada If you want to splurge on a meal in a nice restaurant in Toronto, watch for special events called Summelicious and Winterlicious. During these times the best restaurants all offer special fixed price menus at a substantial savings from normal dining costs. Great way to sample the best of Toronto. Good tip? (+1) Toronto, Ontario, Canada The view from the CN Tower is very good on a clear day. You can see far into the distance, although Toronto lacks features (mountains, etc...) that would make the view truly incredible. It is a very interesting experience to be taken up that high via an elevator. The height feels a little too high to be real, although the glass floor is a bit nerve-racking. It is supposed to be safe enough to withstand an enormous amount of weight, but there is always that little bit of doubt! Good tip? (+1) |
