Toronto What to Expect

The R.O.M. is an amazing place to go while visiting Toronto! They have so many neat artifacts for adults and there's a fun children's section as well!

If you're staying in the city for a few days, purchase a Weekly pass from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). They cost approximately CAD$32, and offer unlimited travel throughout the city. It pays for itself in 12 trips. If you are only in town for a day, get the $9 Day Pass, which is the same price as four single trips. Two adults and up to two children can ride on one pass on Saturdays and Sundays.

For a great view of the city from a distance, take the ferry to the Toronto Islands. Both the boat ride and walks around the island parkland offer great views of the skyline. Nice and quiet, perfect for picnics, but very busy in the summer, especially on weekends. Return ferry trip $6.50 for adults, $3-4 for students, seniors, and children.

Did someone say Karaoke? Check out the Rivoli every other Sunday night for "Kickass Karaoke." Over 6,000 songs in their catalogue and a guaranteed good drunk time. Canadian improv comedy troupe the Kids in the Hall got their start here back in the 80s. Free admission, drinks are reasonable.

If you're in town for a short visit and have younger kids, the best 'city tour' is probably the Hippo Bus (not available in winter). "Hippo Tours" have tour busses that are amphibious so they can go in the water and on the road, a bit more interesting than usual tours.

Beerbistro is a must visit for anyone who loves beer with food. Too much time and effort has been spent on pairing wine with food, when what one really wants is a beer. At Beer Bistro, they use their pallets to choose which beers got best with each meal. An AMAZING selection of beers (and their Frites are great, too)! Their lunch menu is reasonably priced for those on a budget.

The Bata Shoe Museum is well worth the time and ticket price. Even for those who are not shoe lovers will enjoy this walk through history. This stop is filled with histrical shoe facts, preservation information, artwork (in shoe form), and of course shoes!

The loveliest way to discover Toronto is to rent a bike and take a tour along the riverside, through the villa lanes and the beautiful nature/parks around the city (especially in fall)

If you want to splurge on a meal in a nice restaurant in Toronto, watch for special events called Summelicious and Winterlicious. During these times the best restaurants all offer special fixed price menus at a substantial savings from normal dining costs. Great way to sample the best of Toronto.

The view from the CN Tower is very good on a clear day. You can see far into the distance, although Toronto lacks features (mountains, etc...) that would make the view truly incredible.

It is a very interesting experience to be taken up that high via an elevator. The height feels a little too high to be real, although the glass floor is a bit nerve-racking. It is supposed to be safe enough to withstand an enormous amount of weight, but there is always that little bit of doubt!

Go visit the Steamwhistle brewery, it's just behind the Blue Jays Stadium, you can get drunk for free there.

Toronto is a great City! You will have no problems.

If you are traveling in Toronto. take a trip to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec. You can buy cheap ticket in chinase town. (4 days). or if you want to go to Niagara falls you can rent a car  and you can visit differents villages.
