Be very careful when renting bikes or doing boat trips here.  I recommend renting through your hotel or guesthouse.  We did not do this and were accused of stealing bikes from a place we never even rented from.  In the end they dragged us all over town trying to get people to vouch for us and we had to pay for the bikes or go to "trial", which would have meant missing our train out of town.  Really bad stuff and a total scam.
