Nan Chang is changing more and more every year.  Just recently opened two authentic western restaurants.  One is more of continental European/French cusine called Le Bistro 100 and the other is more Italian focusing on Pizzas and Pastas called Cafe Roma.

i actually lived ere for over 4 months the ppl are so nice and helpful even with the very little english they have if you want cheap everything then this is the place to go food is amazing and if you worried about Chinese food and you want western dont worry there is KFC and McDonalds and even Pizza hut available all around the city but i would any day of the week just go to a Chinese restaurant cos it is actually cheaper   for clothes there is one main st with over 300 shops to choose from everything is very central there is also around 4 walmarts available in Nanchang one in the city centre others around the suburbs I rented a 3 bedroom flat so i cant comment on hotels the weather winter extermely cold i would wear around 3 tops and the summer too hot can get as high as 45c
