Travel Tips from people who've been to Yanji
Yanji city is great - all signs are bilingual in Chinese and Korean of the flavor spoken by the Chosunjok in China. One thing critical to remember when going to the airport is that no liquid is allowed in carryons - even that bought in Yanji airport duty free! What a scam... And this was true before 9-11 when it was not normal in the world... Be careful also about putting any North Korean products deep in your checked baggage if flying Yanji to seoul... Good tip? (0) And be sure to try the pickled dog paw pads - my Korean friends would not try it, but I dug in and wow was it good. And be careful if you go to the Szechuan restaurant and you get the Sichuanhuoguo, do not ask for the really hot version unless you are OD'ing on morphine - the red hot pot is so hot that you touch your tongue with meat cooked in it, and you cannot talk for five minutes...
