Xi'an People & Culture
Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China Xi An is usually insert in travel trip to china, famous for its terraccotta soldiers. In my opinion the city is dirty, traffic is crazy, and there are teens better place to see in China. Airport is far away: consider 1 hour. So if you ar enot drilled by the "soldiers" just avoid Xi An for your first trip to China. From other side ther are, if you have to go there, you'll appreciate frinadly people and a bit of anciety that in China is disappearing. Good tip? (0) Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China A very beautiful city and nice people! The Xi'an City Wall make you feel that the city isn't as big as it really is. There are alot good restaurants inside the city wall. You also have to pay a visit at the Muslim Market. Don't hesitate to bargain, cuz the price they'll offer you is twice, sometimes four times as much as the real price! But the atmosphere is so nice, so you just have to love it! It's also worth to walk/cycle on the city wall! Good tip? (0) Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China When taking airplane to Xi'an, you will most likely notice that polluted air lays like a lock over the valley, as the area is surrounded by high mountains. Some people say there's not much to do in Xi'an besides for a trip to partially unearthed terracotta soldiers. I cannot disagree more. The city wall, temples and drum/bell towers are something I wouldn't mind spending more time with. (Make sure you don't eat fresh vegetables or fruits. See my review about Beijing.) Good tip? (0) Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China Zhengzhou-Xian Air Route Cancelled Zhengzhou-Xian Air Route had been cancelled since March 25th, 2010. People traveling between Xian and Zhengzhou will have to resort to land transfers. The best and most convenient way is taking Zhengzhou-Xian High-speed Rail . After the last flight heading to Xian on March 24, Zhengzhou-Xian air route had been abandoned by all Chinese air companies because of sharp drop of air-traveling takers. Airliners could hardly make ends meet, facing the fierce competition with the High-speed Rail. So they cancelled Zhengzhou-Xian flight route. Compared with the flights, Zhengzhou-Xian High-speed Railway takes only about 2 hours to accomplish the travelling, and it only costs 390 RMB ($ 58) for one seat in a first-class carriage and 240 RMB ($ 36) in an economic carriage. Moreover, a total of 14 CHR (China High-speed Railway) trains are running between Xian and Zhengzhou every day, at an interval of 90 minutes in both cities, which is of great convenience for traveller to adjust their travel schedules.
