About Shanghai Province Planning a Trip to Shanghai Province
Xinzhuang, Shanghai Province, China Shanghai has borne many nicknames throughout history, two of my favorites being The Jewel of Asia and The Whore of Asia. After several visits both names are particularly apt. There's much to see in Shanghai, and the city boasts such a rich history that its a better use of your time to forgo the museums and instead explore the living history that still inhabits the streets. Stroll down Nanjing St. to see capitalism gone wild, also stop by Toms Arcade to see hands down the best arcade in the country. Check out the Bund at night to see one of the most famous, and rightly so, skylines in the world. Xin Tian Di is a nice area to visit if you're looking for an upscale meal or drink. Note: bring money. Any vice you'd like to pursue can also be enjoyed here. If you're looking for the seedier aspect of things, think drugs and prostitution, simply hover around the large fountain on Nanjing St.. You'll be solicited whether or not you're interested. Good tip? (0) Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China By far the best time we had while in Shanghai was when our group visited the Pearl Tower at night time. The tower i think is the 3rd largest in the world and on the sight deck has a clear floor all the way around so you can look down! It was a bit scary at first, but being able to see the city lights from so high up then be able to look down at them was amazing! If you go to Shanghai you must go visit the tower! Good tip? (0) Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China Shanghai is a huge city with many activities. The Shanghai Museum is an absolute must. It is one of the best in Asian, at least in my opinion. Shanghai also has many clubs, although the dancing is more similar to moving (don't worry, very little grinding, etc. at most places) but they may expect you to buy a drink. You might even see a co-sex bathroom or two that consist of squat-type toilets (in a stall). Good tip? (0) Xinzhuang, Shanghai Province, China If you want to have good food in a different place check out People´s Restaurant ( Ren ). Excellent food, good prices. The setting is just supafly.
(think of an old open factory, slick concrete walls, very dimmed lights, lounge sections, good furniture, special design entrance, toilets etc.) Good tip? (0) Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China Bring tissues with you everywhere!! It is very common for bathrooms to provide no toilet paper and stick that responsibility with you....and squat-toilets are scary at first, but you'll get used to them. Good tip? (0) Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China For a unique experience, take the magnetic levetation train from Pudong to the airport. This is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from Grand Hyatt, St. Regis or Shangri-La and the train itself takes but 8 minutes to the airport once you hit the 400 km per hour top speed. Fun. Good tip? (+1) Shanghai, Shanghai Province, China get yourself a Shanghai Public Transportation Card (costs 30 RNB) which you can top up at most metro stations in Shanghai. It's a lot more convenient as you don't need to buy a single ticket each time you use public transport. It also works on buses and taxis Good tip?
