Best time to travel in Hangzhou is from March to April or in summer as the public transportation such as bus will not provide service after 8:00p.m. and the day time is shorter in winter. Don't try to buy tea from the farmer directly unless you are expert on this.

If you worry about your hair cut, wait 'til you're in China, I've tried a Shanghai hair saloon and I've been surprised to find only men working here (in France there's a big majority of women working in hair saloon !), plus it is so so cheap and well done! amazing :p

Bei einem Besuch in Xi'an unbedingt den Nachtmarkt besuchen!! Wer mit dem Zug weiterreist, sollte damit rechnen ca. 2 Stunden vor Abfahrt am Bahnhof zu sein da mit sehr langen Wartezeiten gerrechnet werden muss. Diese alte und eindrückliche "Stadt" bietet viel Unterhaltung, Kultur und eindrückliche Architektur. Wer abseits der Touristenpfade sein möchte, ist hier genau richtig!

Lots of fun. Great culture and food for cheap. Hang on to your wallets though, although unlikely, it's safer to have your wallet in your front pocket than your back pocket. Check out San Li Tun Nan Lu. It's an area with great night life and restaurants. One of the restaurants is called Bellagio and there's great shaved ice desserts. It's also open till 3 or 4am. Also the main gay club there is across the street from Bellagio. It's called Destination.

If you have only a day to visit the Great Wall of China. Take a taxi or a bus to Badaling instead of joining tour groups. It gives more time for you to enjoy the scenery instead of being herded quickly to an assortment of commercial establishments.

Shop at Xinyang Market just near the AP Plaza. You can ride the subway to get there (the stop is the Science Museum, I think). You can get leather knock-offs for 80 RMB and a flash drive for 70RMB.

I made sure I wore a head-scarf and long gypsy skirt when I went to the big Bazaar -- people mistook me for a minority person or central asian (despite being caucasian) who lived locally, or at least a foreigner who worked locally -- this helped a lot with bargaining for fabrics (it probably helped a little that I speak Chinese, but there are many in Kashgar who don't).
