Si vous voulez profiter de lijiang sans la nuée de touristes et saisir un semblant de vie "normale" le mieux est encore de se lever aux aurores et de déambuler dans les vieilles rues pas encore retapées pour le tourisme, vous pourrez y voir les travailleurs sur la route, les écoliers et les echoppes de rue se préparer, après c'est la ruée...

If you find yourself in Lijiang i really recommend the 2 or 3 day trek through the Tiger Leaping Gorge of the Yangtze river. The scenery is absolutely stunning, and few guesthouses along the route are really cozy (although obviously very spartan).

One of my favorite cities in China because of the cute minority Naxi people, so different to the Han people, and the lovely cool weather. The Old Town is a fascinating marble cobblestone maze of shopping stalls, curious little bars and cafe restaurants, and even a few backpackers inns. Also a great place to visit because it is close to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Bring sunscreen because although it is a cooler place, the high altitude means you will burn more readily than you think and wear comfortable shoes because it is really a great city for walking.
