Shaoxing is the birthplace of Lu Xun, so naturally you'll find a lot of Lu Xun love while exploring the area. You can visit his ancestral home, kind of boring except for the rock garden, or visit some of the local restaurants and tea houses. You can even visit the, alleged, bar from Lu Xun's story "Kong Yiji". Drinking the yellow wine and fennel flavored beans of the story's protagonist is surprisingly fun. The wine is strong.
This is a rural area, so city folk who are uncomfortable around trees and such should avoid at all cost.
