Andean Highlands Dos and Don'ts
Travel Tips for Dos and Donts in Andean HighlandsMedellin, Andean Highlands, Colombia I love this place primarily because of my family connection to it. Aside from it offering anything from city life to suburbia to estates in farmlands, its weather is above par. Although it catches a bad rap for its drug/violence history, it has really cleaned up over the past 10 years. I've never really had any issues. It is an excellent place to travel , if visiting South America. Bogota is too americanized if you want to get away. The exhange rate has always been good. The food is amazing. Period. People are surprisingly friendly, especially compared to the U.S. Good tip? (0) El Espinal, Andean Highlands, Colombia If you want to feel the humidity and the warm climate between the beautifull Colombian mountains come here.
You can rent a house or stay at a hostal. It is maybe the most economic trip I´ve ever made... Good tip? (0) Medellin, Andean Highlands, Colombia Colombia gets a bad rap for being a dangerous country. I cannot stress the importance how the opposite is true. The people are wonderful and absolutely love to have a great time and dance all night long. The locals known as the Paisa's are so friendly and easy on the eyes :-) Medellin in a few years will become the next Buenos Aires!!!! Good tip? (0) Medellin, Andean Highlands, Colombia Lonely Planet Sucks!!!!!!!!!!! When it comes to lodging and resturants befriend some locals or ask the cab drivers where the best place to eat or stay. So far on my trip to Colombia Lonely Planet has been preety bad Good tip? (0) Apartado, Andean Highlands, Colombia If you find yourself in Apartado you are either wanted by the law, are preparing to head into the Darien, or both. If you are not Columbian - regardless of your nationality - you will stand out like a sore thumb. In fact, it you aren't a local you will stand out like a sore thumb. Regardless, the ever present Columbian good nature and friendliness is prevelent. Good tip? (0) Top Cities in Andean HighlandsBradt Travel Guides |
