Colombia Dos and Don'ts
Travel Tips for Dos and Donts in ColombiaMedellin, Caribbean Coast, Colombia Medellín is the perfect place to marvel in all things fat: local artist Botero has placed his wonderfully fat statues of women, pigeons, cats and presidents all over town. Good tip? (0) Cali, Southwestern Columbia, Colombia If you are planning to go to Cali and you want to have a great party you will never forget, be sure to try the
" chiva rumbera"
It's an old fashion bus without doors that travels through the city with loud music. On the bus there's drinking and dancing and partying. but if this is still not enough fun for you, the chiva also stops at all the famous bars in Cali. Good tip? (0) Medellin, Andean Highlands, Colombia I love this place primarily because of my family connection to it. Aside from it offering anything from city life to suburbia to estates in farmlands, its weather is above par. Although it catches a bad rap for its drug/violence history, it has really cleaned up over the past 10 years. I've never really had any issues. It is an excellent place to travel , if visiting South America. Bogota is too americanized if you want to get away. The exhange rate has always been good. The food is amazing. Period. People are surprisingly friendly, especially compared to the U.S. Good tip? (0) El Espinal, Andean Highlands, Colombia If you want to feel the humidity and the warm climate between the beautifull Colombian mountains come here.
You can rent a house or stay at a hostal. It is maybe the most economic trip I´ve ever made... Good tip? (0) Barranquilla, Caribbean Coast, Colombia Barranquilla is more a businesstown. Not very touristical area, but has some of the more living clubs, the real thing. As many of the coastal cities are very westernly developed, Barranquilla remained more original, latin! Better leave you wallot and all valuables behind at your hotel. Just take along some money and a fotocopy of you passport, don't provoque those who might feel the urge to remove something from you I would say. Most of the locals head down to the "Soledad" neighbourhood, where you you'll feel the latin rhythms of salsa, merengue, rumba, reggaeton, basicly the typical latina sensual dances. Good tip?
