Bogota, Andean Highlands, Colombia Colombia isn't half as bad as people try to tell you it is. Bogota is a beautiful city, stop by the Colombia es Pasion store! Good tip? (0) Cali, Southwestern Columbia, Colombia Cali is a very nice town, where the music (the best Salsa) is central in the lives of the people, very friendly. Good tip? (0) Cartagena, Caribbean Coast, Colombia ok I am an america living 3 years in colombia the thing about Cartagena is that it is absolutely beautiful but if you dont speak spanish or have an extremely heavy accent the people will try to take advantage so my tip is be aware of what going on and to speak spanish but when the people aren't taking advantage they are the nicest people you will find always willing to help in what ever situation this last comment about the people is for al of the colombians to be honest they are the nicest people I have ever met Good tip? (0) Barranquilla, Caribbean Coast, Colombia I have been living here for 3 years and I got to say it may bot be the most beautiful place but the people and ambiance are simply amazing and unforgettable so for who ever wants to talk bad about here need to get there facts straight here it is very peaceful and laid back not as everyone portrays it to be Good tip? (0) San Gil, Andean Highlands, Colombia Beautiful town and very friendly people. There is a central park with tons of plants, some sort of botanic garden (Though, im not sure if that is called like that), it has two really big trees (different species) that have a story. If you go there dont forget the story!! Good tip? (0) 90% of the population are Roman Catholics; there are also small Protestant and Jewish minorities. Last edited Dec 6, 08 10:44 PM. Bogota, Andean Highlands, Colombia If when visiting Bogotá you feel like learning about colombians culture, visit El Museo del Oro, there you will find the Pre-Hispanic societies treasures! Good tip? (0) Medellin, Andean Highlands, Colombia Is a very special place to go and see how old Medellin was, how "paisa" culture is like, i loved it, it is great...it has the best hotels the best malls and everything there is great! Good tip? (0) Cali, Southwestern Columbia, Colombia Cali is a very nice town, where the music (the best Salsa) is central in the lives of the people, very friendly. Good tip? (0) Cali, Southwestern Columbia, Colombia If you are planning to go to Cali and you want to have a great party you will never forget, be sure to try the
" chiva rumbera"
It's an old fashion bus without doors that travels through the city with loud music. On the bus there's drinking and dancing and partying. but if this is still not enough fun for you, the chiva also stops at all the famous bars in Cali. Good tip? (0) San Andres, San Andres & Providencia, Colombia Beautiful Island in South America, great music, great food. Good tip? (0) Valledupar, Andean Highlands, Colombia Everywhere is Ok,your car, the riverside, the street, the shop at the corner, el estanco; as long as u have enough alcohol and loud music, which means Vallenato. Good tip? (0) Villa de Leiva, Andean Highlands, Colombia if you really like to stray off track and visit places never found in tours, consider going to a typical music concert in a "maloka" ! While exploring Villa de Leiva, we came accross a small advertisement in the main plaza for an interesting seeming concert. It was held waaaaaaaaaay up in a mountain, in a smaaaaall dome shaped shack. Luckily, we were with a local so when the time came to actually find the concert, it wasn't so difficult! The music was of Colombian aborigines so don't expect to hear any hot music! However, the locale and the experience as a whole makes this truely unforgetable! :) Good tip? (0) Bogota, Andean Highlands, Colombia I think that the Museo del Oro (Gold museum) is a must to see. A huge variety of old golden tools and jewellery! Good tip? (+1) San Gil, Andean Highlands, Colombia Very good to do extreme sports and the most important: is very chip..! Good tip? (0) Cartagena, Caribbean Coast, Colombia Cartagena's old city is a MUST! Walking around it's narrow streets with beautiful colonial balconies... If possible find accommodation right there, at old (restored) buildings like Hotel Santa Clara or Hotel Santa Teresa (former convent).... At night time, don't miss the beautiful Café del Mar for some drinks, it´s right on top the old city walls, considered national patrimony. And if you are into snorkelling or SCUBA diving, or simply into enjoying beautiful beaches, Islas del Rosario is definitely a place to visit. Good tip? (0) El Espinal, Andean Highlands, Colombia If you want to feel the humidity and the warm climate between the beautifull Colombian mountains come here.
You can rent a house or stay at a hostal. It is maybe the most economic trip I´ve ever made... Good tip? (0) Bucaramanga, Andean Highlands, Colombia Traffic in and around Bucaramanga is hilariously dense. Even if the city is much smaller than, say, Bangkok, traffic gets stuck quite in the same way, with bikes and motorbikes criss crossing lanes betreen busses, trucks and the like and making things worse for all. the scenery around the city is breathtaking (towards el canyon de chicamocha) and there's some nice hostals to stay. Good tip? (0) Bogota, Andean Highlands, Colombia I think that the Museo del Oro (Gold museum) is a must to see. A huge variety of old golden tools and jewellery! Good tip? (+1) Armenia, Andean Highlands, Colombia Armenia is one small city but has a lot of things to do right here. It's 45 mins away from Bogota by plane, and almost 6 hours by car. It's located in the Departamento del Quindio, west of Colombia. U can find the National Coffee Park 30 mins away from Armenia in Montenegro. It's a really interesting theme park where u can learn all bout the coffee and the region... After that u can go to PANACA, and experience being with farm animals. If u come here u'll have to go find kayaking in the rapids, and maybe practice some Canopy. Don't forget to try the richest coffee in the World and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and the red dusks....U can ask about staying in the countryside or in the city where u can find a lot of hotels depending on ur budget. Good tip? (+1) Zipaquira, Andean Highlands, Colombia Visit the Catedral de Sal. A huge salt mine underground! Good tip? (+1) Sincelejo, Caribbean Coast, Colombia A place where I have been living for 1 year: the centre is the parque Santander Good tip? (+1) San Luis, San Andres & Providencia, Colombia Bellas playas de San Andres, lugar turistico y apasible Good tip? (+1) Top Cities in ColombiaBradt Travel Guides |
