One of my favorite parts of Costa Rica was a horseback tour from Fortuna to Monteverde. We took a boat across the Lake Arenal, which is absolutely gorgeous. We then dropped off our bags and met up with a our horseback tour. We then traveled for three hours on horseback to Monteverde, and it was absolutely amazing because you really get the chance to see all the scenery. To top it off, the tour ends at a restuarant at the top of hill overlooking the lake and the volcano. It's definitely the best part of the trip.

Check out the hotsprings in La Fortuna, near the Arenal Volcano! They're volcanically heated, so no harmful chlorine. There's sixteen pools of all different temperatures and the whole place is very classy. The ultimate in relaxation. You'll know you're at the right place when you see the statue out front. You'll see it. Can't miss it.

Jardines Arenal B & B is a great family run place about a five min drive outside of town.  Not very expensive and has great gallo pinto included for breakfast.  The owners are truly the treasure, not even the view of Arenal can top that.
