Stay at La Quinta de Sarapiqui, the owner there is a personal friend of mine and she speaks fabulous English. It is a family run inn and she will gladly help you with anything. Also look into horseback riding and rafting through them. They know the best people, not just tour companies but locals who occasionally let out their horses. Good luck.
