Travel Tips from people who've been to Hacienda Monteverde
Don't miss out on the Sky Trek while here. Zipping above the rainforest on cable lines is an amazing experience! Good tip? (+1) Monteverde is where all tourists go in Costa Rica . Nevertheless it is worth going there. It is beautiful and there is so much to do! If you go there, please do sleep at Hostel Jireh in Santa Elena! The owner Guillermo, a young, enthusiastic Costa Rican guy, who just started the hostel, will make sure you will have the best time ever! The place is small and simple, but very very cheap, clean and you have everything you'll need (kitchen, great breakfast, internet, hot shower, excellent advice concerning trips and possibility to book them), plus the best service! We didn't want to leave because we had such an amazing time. The atmosphere is very cosy, it feels like you're one family. Guillermo introduces all backpackers to each other, organises barbecues and even goes dancing with you! Please have a look at: www.hosteljireh.com Good tip? (0) This is a very beautiful part of Costa Rica. the rain forest is stunning and full of wildlife. I'd reccommend taking a guide.. they carry telelenses and hey see absolutely everything! We were very lucky to see the famous and are Quetzal bird..... twice! Thanks to our guide. Lots of other birds, monkeys, snakes, spiders, butterflies, sloths etc as well. What is really cool is that you can take a ight time stroll in the rainforest as well, you get to see lots of animals that you don't see during the day. Don't go to the orchid garden, it's a waste of time and money, the frog pound is really cool, and if you ask the guide nicely you get to feed a tarantula spider... The hanging bridges walk is really nice as well, or for the slightly more daring (not me, since i suffer from vertige) you get to play Tarzan. Oh and there is a really good Italian restaurant. I forgot its name, but its the only one there, it is on the road to the NP entrance Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Hacienda Monteverde
