0124The West Coast is the place to go if you're in to surfing and/or roughing it and you are not in to crowds. It's uncommon to find a flat day in the (non-existent) lineup. At one semi-private black sand beach directly on the pacific (it was hot!), we did not see another person for an entire afternoon; never mind another surfer.

002the best thing 2 do there is 2 go to the countryside. take a cab its not so expensive, and tell them u wanna go somewhere 2 the mountains. they bring u 2 the most beautyfull places ever...

009There isn't much to do in Puntarenas besides get on the ferry. It does however have some decent hotels and restaurants to pass the time in while waiting for said ferry.
