About Dalmatia Region Planning a Trip to Dalmatia Region
Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Beautiful city on the coast, best time to visit: Sept - it's still quite warm and you can enjoy nice weather and the sea, but there's not as many tourists! Good tip? (0) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Don't miss Plitvice National Park and its 16 lakes cascading one into the other through a multitude of waterfalls large and small. Located between Zagreb and Split, the park is easily accessible by bus or car. The Jezero Hotel is the best in the area and not outrageously expensive, but there are also campgrounds and BBs in the nearby town. To avoid the crowds, go early in the morning or in the evening. You can hike around the lakes in about 3 hours with plenty of time to take pictures, which you will want to do at every turn. This is one of my favorite spots on earth! Good tip? (0) Dubrovnik, Dalmatia Region, Croatia OK first, you're gonna need Kunas, which is the currency used in Croatia. Anyways, Dubrovnik is a beautiful and relatively small city on the Adriatic coast. It is relatively expensive, at least compared to the other Croatian cities and don't get a Hotel in the city, cause it doesn't have any beaches there. The best way is (if you have a car), to get a room or Apartment in some private house near the city (Mali Zaton for example) and drive to the city whenever you want. If you don't have much time, just visit the old city area between the city walls and go to some cafe there. You shouldn't need more than a day for that, and if you have some spare time, before sundown you can visit the city walls and walk on them all around the city to get some great views of the sunset... just make sure you go earlier cause they would be closed otherwise. I don't know much about the nightlife, but I remember one club in the old city (forgot the name), that' also on the see (it has a mini beach), and it's small but really great, with a DJ and everything. There was a separate DJ outside on the beach, where you can actually see the walls of the old city and some islands, and it's absolutely beautiful, so if you go there make sure you visit that club. Well that's about it. Dubrovnik is a fabulous city... have lots of fun, and take lots of pictures!!! Good tip? (0) Dubrovnik, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Best time to go to Dubrovnik is october. The weather is still nice, and there are not so many tourists. Good tip? (0) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia The best time to visit this area is just before the busy season. The end of June is perfect because you are still paying off season prices. You can get great deals on airfare, hotels and restaurants. I saved approximatley $1000 on my trip for traveling early. Good tip? (0) Korcula, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Nice to go there by night! maybe the photos won't catch all the monuments but believe me - all those twilight lights and people enjoing night life - worth it ;) Good tip? Good tip? (0) Dubrovnik, Dalmatia Region, Croatia To have a great view at the Old Town climb the hills, east to it. You may see the ideal geometric shape of the city walls, better than any aerial photos. Do not leave the path when climbing up through the forest! There can still be some landmins there! Good tip? (0) Hvar, Dalmatia Region, Croatia very beautiful town, nice beaches but the marina is a problem-it's very difficult to find a place coming in the evening, but sometimes there's a little place at the 'customs border'- you cannot charge the yacht's batteries nor get any water but you neither have to pay for that place. another good thing is that about 20m from the marina are some nice pubs ;) usually they close about 2am. Good tip? (0) Otok Vis, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Vis ( redirect-tal. - Modra špilja (h in-001.JPG/450px-Bisevo-in-001.JPG-ttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/ff/Bisevo-in-001.JPG/450px-Bisevo-in-001.JPG ) - Titova špilja ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Vladimir_Nazor_lyrics_about_Tito_in_Tito%27s_cave%2C_island_of_Vis%2C_Croatia.jpg/800px-Vladimir_Nazor_lyrics_about_Tito_in_Tito%27s_cave%2C_island_of_Vis%2C_Croatia.jpg) Good tip? (0) Dubrovnik, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Its easy to see why Shaw described Dubrovnik the Pearl of the Adriatic. It is a beautiful and romantic destination for all you love birds out there!! The old town is amazing, the city walls are great and well worth walking at least once. If you like seafood you'll love Dubrovnik, you can also find an authentic Bosian restaurant that serves up mean kebabs. The people are friendly, the weather is usually great and the architecture is cool. You can take a boat out to Elphite Islands that are very pretty and if you fancy swimming or mountain biking on the Islands it there for you to do. Local beers and wines are quite tasty too!! Good tip? (+2) Orebic, Dalmatia Region, Croatia It's worth going up to the Franciscan Monastery outside Orebić. The view is incredible. Good tip? (+1) Bol, Dalmatia Region, Croatia I have spent many long summers here as a child and it would be the place I call home above Sarajevo.
It has a myriad of cobble stone alleyways, gorgeous beaches, safe waters...and the walk from Bol to Zlatni Rat is a favourite of mine. You can smell the pines. Good tip? (+1) Bradt Travel Guides |
