Planning a Trip to Split
Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Beautiful city on the coast, best time to visit: Sept - it's still quite warm and you can enjoy nice weather and the sea, but there's not as many tourists! Good tip? (0) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia Don't miss Plitvice National Park and its 16 lakes cascading one into the other through a multitude of waterfalls large and small. Located between Zagreb and Split, the park is easily accessible by bus or car. The Jezero Hotel is the best in the area and not outrageously expensive, but there are also campgrounds and BBs in the nearby town. To avoid the crowds, go early in the morning or in the evening. You can hike around the lakes in about 3 hours with plenty of time to take pictures, which you will want to do at every turn. This is one of my favorite spots on earth! Good tip? (0) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia The best time to visit this area is just before the busy season. The end of June is perfect because you are still paying off season prices. You can get great deals on airfare, hotels and restaurants. I saved approximatley $1000 on my trip for traveling early. Good tip? (0) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia The Split market place by the port is wonderful. Do haggle though, the prices aren`t set and they`ll go for cheaper prices if you got the knack. Good tip? (+1) Split, Dalmatia Region, Croatia For all soccer fans you must try and get to the local soccer team HAJDUK store. They have superb quality soccer gear in their tem colours and wondereful gear for the youngsters - any soccers fans you are shopping for will love this gear. Very popular yet something quite different.
