Starigrad Travel Guide

Starigrad is the obviously a designation meaning old city/town in Croatian and is a named district in many Dalmatian coast cities.  In this case we are referring to the Stari grad in Hvar Island, which serves as the port and disembarkation point for many of the boats and passenger lines on this island.  Jadrolinija has a ferry from Split that disembarks here.  However, unlike many other Croatian areas, Stari Grad does not refer to the main tourist and nightlife area of Hvar.  That is Hvar town and is unbelievably beautiful.  It is about a twenty to thirty minute drive away from Stari grad.

A town and harbour on the north-western part of the island of Hvar. The summer months offer numerous cultural and sports events: the Summer of Stari Grad, concerts, recitals, shows. Stari Grad hosts the International Summer Music School in July and August. The first Sunday in September attracts many swimmers on the Faros Marathon, International Croatia Cup in long-distance swimming.

Nice place, starigrad is the oldest part of hvar island, folkloristic but it has not a strong nightlife...it's a quiet place to see in not more than 1 hour
