Zadar is a city in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. It is the centre of Zadar county and the wider northern Dalmatian region. Zadar faces the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, from which it is separated by the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which the old city stands used to be separated from the mainland by a deep moat which has since become a landfill. The harbor, to the north-east of the town, is safe and spacious. Zadar is the seat of a Catholic archbichop. Zadar is the fifth largest city in Croatia and the second largest in Dalmatia, with a population of 72,717 according to the 2001 census. According to speculations, Zadar now has around 90000 people, and it's the fastest groving city in Dalmatia.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Zadar
Near sunset sit on the west side of the island with a bottle of wine and listen to the amazing sea organ play (this actually a set of pipes beneath the pavements that the sea "plays") while the sun sets over the marina. Also, while walking around notice the bullet holes and chips in the buildings from the recent (1995) wars with Yugoslavia for the independence of the Republic of Croatia. Good tip? (+1) My hometown..one of the most beautiful cities in the world...amazing architecture, beautiful churches and beaches and beautiful people!! =D Good tip? (+1) The most popular club in Zadar. After drinking and walking through the center of Zadar, most of the people visit Gotham club after 12 am. It's a quite a big building with beautiful garden (outdoor space for drinking or chilling) with fountain.. There are also a few bars in the club.
