Travel Tips from people who've been to Rovinj
Rovinj is a small fishing town 40 km northwest of Pula, it retains a strong Italian flavor, with cobblestoned streets and a central promenade. The baroque Cathedral of St. Euphemia stands on a high hill overlooking the old town and several islands. A casino also draws visitors. It's hopeless to go in the center by car, but walking by the coast is absolutely lovely. Go through the small alleys, it's amazing...old balconies, ancient wooden doors and most spectacularly, the tiny stepped alleys that run between the houses right into the sea... creative displays of jewelry and textiles outside and delightful displays of craftwork inside...beaches?there is no lying down on the sand but the towns have improvised their own sunbathing spots by putting flat surfaces on the rocks. Take a bout trip to Lim Fjord, not so much to see but it's a cool experience and you'll visit a Pirat cave... Good tip? (0) This town is a gem. It is built on a cliff overlooking the sea, which is crystal clear . The city centre is all cobbled streets and venetian style buildings. There are several surrounding islands that you can travel to easily by small ferry boats and are perfect for day trips to the beach. The food is excellent, try the chevapcici (cigar shaped meatballs) or any of the local fresh fish dishes. There are a lot of small art galleries and shops.Lots of private bed and breakfast type accomodations. Good tip? (0) If there is one place on earth that is worth travelling for just for the sake of a dinner - it's Rovinj because of it's restaurant "Monte". There's no way of describing! The most mindblowing dinner I've had... Oh, and by the way Rovinj is a Unesco World Heritage City that on it's own is quite nice to see ;o) http://www.monte.hr/ Montalbano 75 52210 Rovinj Tel.: 052 830 203 Good tip? (0)
