Croatia Climate

Croatia’s climate varies with the region.  Northern Croatia has a temperate continental climate whereas central, semi-mountainous and mountainous regions are cooler and drier.  The entire Adriatic coast has a pleasant Mediterranean climate.  Spring and autumn are mild along the coast, while winter is cold and snowy in central and northern regions. 

Inland, the average temperature in January ranges from 0 to 2°C, and in August from 19 to 23°C.

Along the Adriatic, temperature in winter is between 5 and 10° C.  In July and August the temperature is between 25° C and 35° C and rain is very rare. This is the time when most of the tourists come to the Adriatic.

1. Joe's Tip on Dubrovnik

Its easy to see why Shaw described Dubrovnik the Pearl of the Adriatic. It is a beautiful and romantic destination for all you love birds out there!! The old town is amazing, the city walls are great and well worth walking at least once. If you like seafood you'll love Dubrovnik, you can also find an authentic Bosian restaurant that serves up mean kebabs. The people are friendly, the weather is usually great and the architecture is cool. You can take a boat out to Elphite Islands that are very pretty and if you fancy swimming or mountain biking on the Islands it there for you to do. Local beers and wines are quite tasty too!!

2. Monika's Tip on Opatija

Opatija is a popular summer and winter resort, with average temperatures of 10°C in winter , and 25°C in summer . Opatija is surrounded by beautiful woods of bay laurel . The whole sea-coast to the north and south of Opatija is rocky and picturesque, and contains several smaller winter resorts.

Hvar a town and a port on the south western coast of the island of Hvar; lies in a cove protected by the Pakleni Islands in the south. Main attractions are a pleasant climate, a lot of sunshine, natural be-auties, sports and recreational opportunities + wild night life. You must not forget to visit the Pakleni Islands, a small archipelago in front of a Hvar port where you can enjoy the sun and sea in one of the solitary, wooded coves. More you can enjoy in offer of excellent fish specialities with exquisite local wines (red red wine)...;)))

Beautiful city on the coast, best time to visit: Sept - it's still quite warm and you can enjoy nice weather and the sea, but there's not as many tourists!

5. Igor's Tip on Ilok
Ilok, Slavonia Region, Croatia
Ilok is famous for his old (500 years) cellars, in witch people stored their wines. Most of cellars are carved in rock, and they provide always constant temperature between 9-11 degrees C. World famous wines from south America are made by (mosty) Croatian emigrants so, in Ilok u can taste true joy of good wine for low price. Also some home made snaps can be found also. It isn't the best place to visit, but if u love taste of good liquor then give it a go!
