Travel Tips from people who've been to Vinales
Vinales is one of the more touristy places in Cuba. Be sure to ask for the prices before going on activities. A 45 min evening walk in a finca (farm) cost us 15 CUC (about USD17) each!

Be sure to go horseback riding (5 CUC per hour) and visit Cuevas Santo Tomas, the 2nd largest cave system in the Americas

We stayed 2 nights in the house of a woman called Gloria.
The bed was horrible, the food was worse, ...  but the people don't have much so it was not realy a problem.  Some nice memories from this staying.  We were sitting on the porch and the lady of the house wanted to protect us against insects so she lit about 10 special candles which produced so much smoke (which smelled like hell) we could not see eachother anymore.

An other one is that every mojito we drank was filled with ants (because the sugar bowl was full of them).  They straws we used where dirty inside because she cleaned them after use and re-used them.

We went horseback riding and asked for the best horses.  Instead we got 4 very old horses, one of them died during our 1 hour ride through the mountains.

Vinales is nice dough an defenetly a place in Cuba you must visit.

Enjoy!

was one of the most enjoyable places in cuba for me. met some really friendly people, hung out drinking and dancing every night and did some trips around the country side. there are some hills to explore, some waterfall about 10 km away from town and some beaches ever further north. not much is happening there apart from some tourism and agriculture. highly recommended for a chilled out experience. however, i have to say i have been there in 2000, not sure what it is like these days.
