Cyprus

Cyprus, islands of legends, was considered Aphrodite’s home. For over 10,000 years, numerous civilizations have left their mark on this sunny Mediterranean island. From ancient ruins to crusader fortresses, Greco-Romain theatres to Byzantine monasteries and Orthodox churches, these numerous and distinct sites combine to create snapshots of time in human history. What’s more, ample hiking opportunities exist through the rugged mountains and for sun bathers, stretches of beautiful beaches and coastline beckon visitors. Go off shore on an idyllic cruise, and when you return, enjoy a dinner influenced by Greek, European, African and Middle Eastern touches, check out one of the lively clubs, or relax in one of numerous spas.

Paphos, Cyprus
Awesome place, Visited in 2000 for my honeymoon and found it so refreshing. If you are from Europe you should have no problem working out your way around but if you are like me and are from far away i.e Australia you best get used to driving on the wrong side of the road (they drive on the right) ONCE YOU GET USED TO IT IS A HOOT.Lovely City beautiful Church and lovely people a must city to visit and dirt cheap from London. You have to go to this town and country
Paphos, Cyprus
Hire a quad bike - lots of fun!!!
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Don't go there, full of violent locals who try to get too involved in tourist parties. Worst place I've ever been
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
if your after something a little bit different to the usual touristy type holidays. check out Northern Cyprus it has yet to suffer the effects of mass tourism. it doesn't have much of a night life, most places close early but if you want your own private beach, then this is the place for you.
Kyrenia, Kyrenia District, Cyprus
If you are visiting Kyrenia, stay into the evening. The passages and streets of the old quarter just behind the harbour take on a magical quality after sunset and there are some great places to eat.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
first of all c l i m a t e..oh my god;october 40 degrees during the date and after 18.00;;18 degrees with humidity at the maximum!!!!!!!entertainment;at the maximum a city that never sleeps what else at the maximum;of course the hotels 5 kilometres outside of the city you can find hotels that you can find only in your dreams!!!!
Pano Platres, Limassol District, Cyprus
If you want to explore the Troodos Mountains then this is one of the best places to base yourself. The town is small, but has a number of good restaurants and hotels. There are several good walking trails in the area and Troodos itself is only a 10 minute drive away.
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Visit the bar called "gå in, rulla ut"
Pomos, Paphos District, Cyprus
'Paradisos': café/bar/hangmats/concerts/sunsets/catsdogs... a beautiful little spot with a very special atmosphere and the best zucchini-cheese-fritters ever
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Hire mopeds, can get to some great beaches...Also heading out of town to the East there are some lovely rocks to go cliff diving from and good view of sunset- picture opportunity anyone?!
Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus
Larnaca has a great flavor of sun, free-spirited minds and living, colours and for all, one of the best places to relax after a cold northern winter. Rent a scooter to get around, they are not to prizy. Make sure to visit the markets (Many during the week and for sure on weekends) and visit one church St. Lazarus and the old city (Turkish style). The landscapes and beaches are a MUST and really beautiful. Food reminds me of Greece, which I love. Enjoy a relaxing holiday in Larnaca.
Episkopi, Limassol District, Cyprus
nice and warm, very relaxing
Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus
near aiya napa o yes what a spot
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Stay away from the bars and go for the waterpark just down the road. Lots of varied slides for all you big boys and girls, forget the kids.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
nice scenery, warm here, close to where my mum and dad got hitched
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
staden vimlar av nattklubbar med olika tema, t ex titanic, moulin rouge, m. fl. det finns ett minitivoli. stranden är mycket fin och man kan prova på diverse vattensporter.
Famagusta, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus
larnaca is one of the biggest cities on Cyprus, the main street is placed by the see and starts with marina, at that street you can find lots of hotels, pubs, coffeshops and restaurants. It the perfect place for quiet nightlife on cyprus.
Paphos, Cyprus
very nice old town wiht a worth seeing fort from medieval times, lots of restaurants ,cafes, bars, shops and pubs. Very nice atmosphere during summer =)
Khirokitia, Larnaca District, Cyprus
Really cool old caveman ruins, but nowhere near as impressive as Uplistsikhe in Georgia. Be sure it's a cool day as the climb is not THAT trivial ;)
Famagusta, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Best described as ancient city which was once in bloom and has now very much gone to seed in the ravages of the sea air and sand. Recently subject to some modernisation in a bid to attract tourists, I actually like the decaying nature of its huge walls, many churches and stunning cathedral.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
Sams Kebabs, Best kebabs on the whole Island,
Paphos, Cyprus
Cyprus is great, though if shopping in Paphos be aware that most shops shut at around 1.00. Seven st George does a wicked meza all cooked fresh a real nice place to eat til you pop. Tomb of Kings is well worth a look, watch yourself on bar street at the weekends, in other words don't get bladdered and go there stay alert but have fun.
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
the most honest peolpe in the world, excellent for sight seeing and eating
Paphos, Cyprus
One of the major cities, southwest coast of Cyprus. Paphos is included in the UNESCO list of cultural treasures of the world's heritage. What you have to visit:-Paphos Port-Mosaics-Tombs of the Kings (my favourite)You can also enjoy the shopping and wild night-life of the city. With the public transport you can easily get anywhere near Paphos, I'd especially reccomend Coral Bay beaches. Oh, and when in Coral Bay, don't miss Kleo's pub and its great drinks. Have fun :)
Peyia, Paphos District, Cyprus
It's hot as hell on Peyia (Pegeia) as it's on the hill. But you can have a view on the Paphos District from Peyia at night- it' breathtaking. From Peyia you can easily get to Coral Bay (about 10 minutes), Paphos, or Agios Georgios.
Ayios Yeoryios, Paphos District, Cyprus
Agios Georgios is my number one! Just go there and you'll fall in love with the place at once. Take a look: http://www.travelphoto.net/photos/travel-pictures/Cyprus/Agios-Georgios/content/PIC2251_large.html
Famagusta, Famagusta District, Cyprus
If you're staying in greek cyprus, try your best to go on a boat trip to see famagusta from a distance. Mad to see such a large city almost completely abandoned. theres even a half built hilton hotel from the time of the invasion
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
The Zenobia is a fantastic dive. One of my favourite wreck dives. Other than that, there's little marine life.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
Firstly!! Bring a map if you have not been before! I found that out by driving around for what seemed like hours and only finding half of the things I wanted to see. Limassol has some great hotels but be prepaired to travel to the bars and resteraunts if your wanting to stop at a really nice hotel. There is some good shops but dont expect any bargains, nothing is cheap. Most of the locals are great and are helpful. There is some rough areas so be careful where you go and plan ahead. There is watersports available but its not the best part of the island to be as its quite open and the waters can be choppy.
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
If you're visiting Paphos during the Summer months, you can save a bit of money by visitng the tombs and ruins on a Sunday or a bank holiday (like August 15th) when entrance is free of charge and the place is much less crowded with tourists.
Kato Paphos, Cyprus
Go to Fat Mama's on Tomb of the Kings Ave. The food is delicious, and there are huge portions, but there is a big queue so get there early!
Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus
Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus
Désolé de ne pas l'avoir précisé: il faut aller à Cnossos pour voir le site du Minotaure. Même si la reconstruction de Sir Arthur Evans est franchement mauvaise le site reste exceptionnel!
Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus
The most interesting thing about Lefkosa/Nicosia is crossing the border through what is effectively a heavily militarized UN maintained DMZ between the two countries of North and South Cyprus. North Cyprus being a much more fun place to hang out - better food and drink and much less of the strip-malls and drunk Brits that infest South Cyprus like a plague ;)
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Very nice place in Cyprus, for young people with very good night life. Beach and sea are also nice.
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
its all party party party up there
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
Stay in a hotel away from the main strip as the boy racers use this to drag race at night. Very loud, very dangerous.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
a REALLY nice place to party....... lots of pubs, restaurants in clubs just on the main street.
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Bring lots of money its very expensive
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
don't go to the aquarius - it's not a nice place for the animals!!! an also not for you...
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
If you are in the middle of the island on the greek side, you are able to watch a ghost town in turkey which was once a huge holiday village, fascinating!
Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus
best way to get to know the island is to rent a vehicle and explore the island, and enjoy the nature n weather, you can make your own schedule and visit ruines and museums.
Paralimni, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Small town/village, only few tourists. Good prices for shopping. Visit the big church in the center of it. There is the new one and behind it there is a really old one..
Paphos, Cyprus
La costa de la Bahía de Coral es un espectáculo. Está al norte del nacimiento de Afrodita y sus aguas son impresionantes.
Paphos, Cyprus
Paphos is fantastic, went there with my family in '06, best holiday ive ever been on, the only annoyance i encountered was when we visited the baths of Adonis, what a load of rubbish, in the middle of nowhere, we thought tht "baths" would mean you could swim, does it bolocks, its a hole in a wall filled with about 4 inches of water. load of rubbish.
Paphos, Cyprus
Adonis Falls, unlike Adonis Baths is fantastic, great day out for a family with older teens. a giant pool very deep, quite cool in the shade with a giant cliff/waterfall, and if you feel up for it, jumping the 50 foot off the cliff into the pool is the most exhillirating thing you can do. along with that, its one of the most beautiful places ive ever seen not to mention its free!
Larnaka, Kyrenia District, Cyprus
Henipa hotel on the beach,
Paralimni, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Locals have a weird greek-cypriot accent, and sometime funny! they are very friendly though and good english speakers
Paphos, Cyprus
Another tip for Paphos, seek out Fat Mama's resteraunt. the food is delicious and the portions are huge, we spent ney on £200 in one night. Chops and ribs the size of your head. Fantastic Another, cheaper option is the Full Moon bar. a fantastic atmosphere with fantastic staff... a great place to go just for a game of pool and a drink, or a great, large meal.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
Go and eat at "Scandinavia"!
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
If you're from a colder climate and tend to be lucky with the weather, it's worth going in the off-season and avoid rowdy tourists. February is still warm enough to swim and sunbathe, while the locals don sweaters and jackets. For a challenge, rent a bicycle and take on the rugged paths through volcanic rock leading out to Cavo Greco. Afterwards, enjoy a cool beverage and the scenery around the old monastery.
Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus
If yuo think of luxurious and relaxing holiday, you should better choose 4 seasons or Le Meridien. 4 seasons is famous for its SPA and chinese restaurant
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Callisto hotelli ja sen ranta on parhaita koko Kyproksella, ja ne pihat on aivanko kukkatarhoja! Kannattaa käyä lomalla
Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus
Fam holiday
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
aw nice place lot of sun but also wind cool place for nightlife
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Aiya Napa is definitely the best place to stay in while being in Cyprus. It's full of hotels, night life, however the hotels are off the main road so you can still enjoy 5 minute walk to a party and sleep peacefully in the hotel. It's expensive though - whole cyprus is.
Lania, Limassol District, Cyprus
Don't bother with the Lania Tavern, go to the coffee shop instead and get a lunza and halloumi sandwich. It will be better than what you'd get in the tavern and will cost a lot less!
Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus
when you arrive in Nicosia you have to visit "Kala Kathoumena" coffee shop/cafe, coz it is the best place ever. It is located near Faneromeni church at the end of Ledra street.
Kyrenia, Kyrenia District, Cyprus
yacht marina is a must see for kyrenia
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
If you wish to access the private beach behind the Adams Beach Hotel, step into the supermarket by the coast road then walk through to the rear. The facilities are far superior to those at the nearby Olympic Lagoon Resort!
Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Don't ever go there. Or go if you dont have to pay, there's Zorba's, which is a plus.

Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus
Nightlife is just fantastic... there is even a Swiss Bar! :-) The currency is Pound and calculated to Swiss Francs it's a kind of expensive... there is a nice beach called Nissi Beach...it's around 10 minutes by car from the city center but try not to take a cap as - already mentioned - it's very expensive. Best is to rent a scooter...that's the best way to explore the beauty of this island!

Go to little restaurants which look not that clean and also not as fancy as other ones and you will enjoy really good tasting homemade food!
Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus
Go to little restaurants which aren't directly at the seafront. They look quite unclean and not as fancy as other ones but you will enjoy good tasting home-made food and it's not expensive!
Polis, Paphos District, Cyprus
If you want to enjoy nature, good medeterran wether and food and the ocean. Just go to this place of cypres. You can do o lot of trips by biking or hiking. Special for me was the trip from airport (Lanarca) by car to drive on the left. But after an hour I got used to. ;-)
