Limassol, Limassol District, Cyprus Limassol is a beautiful place, full of life and of welcoming people - like all of Cyprus.
Even if the beach is not made of sand, but of pebbles, that will not take away anything from the beauty of the Mediteranean Sea. I've never seen a sea so clean! I saw it's bottom from the window of the airplane.
In order to move around freely, rent a car - but be careful cypriots drive like english people - on the wrong side of the God damn road!
Ask a local's help to choose a rent-a-car firm over another - they'll be glad to help, especially if you try to learn a word or two in their native tongue.
Cypriots - as greeks - will be more than delighted to let you practice your awfull language knowledge on them. The almost bloom if you ask them of their culture and/or history.
Bring summer clothes and a warmer jacket. Even if a local tells you it's cold don't bother - for cypriots 25 degrees Celsius is considered to be "cold". Always check your own meteo forecast.
Hotels have lots of services to offer and the prices are not as steep as they could be. Romania is much more expensive! With about 2000 euros you and 2 friends can have a wonderfull week long stay in Cyprus.
As for attractions, you won't have time to see them all in just a week: the castle of Kourion, the temple of Apollo, The birth place of Afrodite are just a few places to go visit, the ones I've seen, and only in Lemessos area!
Have fun, enjoy the people, enjoy the food and your stay in Cyprus - you'll come back with beautiful memories and gorgeous pictures. For sure! Good tip? (+1) Paphos, Cyprus Awesome place, Visited in 2000 for my honeymoon and found it so refreshing. If you are from Europe you should have no problem working out your way around but if you are like me and are from far away i.e Australia you best get used to driving on the wrong side of the road (they drive on the right) ONCE YOU GET USED TO IT IS A HOOT. Lovely City beautiful Church and lovely people a must city to visit and dirt cheap from London. You have to go to this town and country Good tip? (0) Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus Very nice place in Cyprus, for young people with very good night life. Beach and sea are also nice. Good tip? (+1) Paphos, Cyprus One of the major cities, southwest coast of Cyprus. Paphos is included in the UNESCO list of cultural treasures of the world's heritage. What you have to visit: -Paphos Port -Mosaics -Tombs of the Kings (my favourite) You can also enjoy the shopping and wild night-life of the city. With the public transport you can easily get anywhere near Paphos, I'd especially reccomend Coral Bay beaches. Oh, and when in Coral Bay, don't miss Kleo's pub and its great drinks. Have fun :) Good tip? (0) Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus If you want to see a typical kafenion and hear live music in an authentic athmosphere - with the necessary alcoholic accomplishment , visit Pambous' kafe - in the old turkish neighbourhood of larnaka. Good tip? (0) Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus If you like rock music, go to the Red club, in the center of Nicosia. Good quality of music and truly great musicians. For the entrance you will pay 20 euros, plus one drink included. Good tip? (0) Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus Castle Club - Best Club in Town
FLY FISH at Nissi Beach - only the strongest will survive :-) Good tip? (0) Polis, Paphos District, Cyprus If you want to enjoy nature, good medeterran wether and food and the ocean. Just go to this place of cypres. You can do o lot of trips by biking or hiking.
Special for me was the trip from airport (Lanarca) by car to drive on the left. But after an hour I got used to. ;-) Good tip? (0) Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus If you're from a colder climate and tend to be lucky with the weather, it's worth going in the off-season and avoid rowdy tourists. February is still warm enough to swim and sunbathe, while the locals don sweaters and jackets. For a challenge, rent a bicycle and take on the rugged paths through volcanic rock leading out to Cavo Greco. Afterwards, enjoy a cool beverage and the scenery around the old monastery. Good tip? (+1) Cyprus, Nicosia District, Cyprus Very nice place. Bring a lot of sun block, it is very expensive on the island. Good tip?
