Kutna Hora, about 90 kms from prague, was the richest and the most significant town of Medieval Bohemia. Rich silver deposits were discovered in its vicinity in the 13th century and they helped win fame and glory for the Kingdom of Bohemia. The well-known Prague groschen - the currency of Europe - was minted here too.
A very beautiful place to spend a weekend to week. Laid back township with a population below 25,000. A lot of stuff to see around for a tiny place. Great of history buffs. Well maintained heritage and attractions. Some of the places to be seen without fail during your visit to Kutna Hora:
Church of St. Barbara - dedicated to the patroness of miners
Hradek and mine Osel - unique medieval silver mine
Italian Court - central mint of kingdom of bohemia
Monastic Church of the Assumption - the largest church in gothic style
Stone House - burger house from the 15th century
and many more
Well connected by train and road tranaport systems.
Enjoy Kutna Hora
