Travel Tips for Dos and Don’ts in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Goma, Nord-Kivu Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Just go for the day from Gisenyi--keep a low profile--don't bring your camera with you. But so long's you don't show off, everyone's friendly and you won't be bothered. Some friends who were taking photos nearly got arrested though, so be careful! I mean it, leave your camera in the hostel in Gisenyi. Make sure to walk everywhere, especially outside of the city the volcanic ruins down by the lake are amazing.

Uvira, Sud-Kivu Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Ndjili, Kinshasa Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Ndjili is where the international airport of Kinshasa is. Watch out for pickpockets and remember that friendly looking, helpful people are not always what they seem to be - rather the opposite...

The landscape and views are stunning, and the small markets in the villages very colorfull. Most of the locals have never seen a white man before. Once in Tsalalah, make sure that you go and eat fresh fish from the river there.
