People in Democratic Republic of the Congo
Ndjili, Kinshasa Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Ndjili is where the international airport of Kinshasa is. Watch out for pickpockets and remember that friendly looking, helpful people are not always what they seem to be - rather the opposite...

Kinshasa, Kinshasa Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Kinshasa is just the least pleasing city I've ever had to live in. Nothing really works perfectly and the ways to enjoy oneself are rather limited, which is a shame for a 7-million-people city!

Democratic Republic of the Congo Sports
Mbuji-Mayi, Kasai-Oriental Province Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
When you are in Mbuji-Mayi, make sure that you visit the small village called Tsalalah. The route takes you through the small villages where you can see how the local of Congo live. The landscape and views are stunning, and the small markets in the villages very colorfull. Most of the locals have never seen a white man before. Once in Tsalalah, make sure that you go and eat fresh fish from the river there.

Goma, Nord-Kivu Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Goma cheese....$5USD for some of the best Gouda i've ever tasted! Its not just a small slice like you have here in Canada, you get a full wheel of cheese. Also the veggies in Goma are cheap, you can get a plastic shopping bag full for $10! Excellent fruits and Veggies.

Kasumbalesa, Katanga Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Be prepared to be kept waiting for a while at the border post... and find a spot in the shade as soon as you possibly can.

Kinshasa, Kinshasa Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Kinshasa and Brazzaville (capital of Congo-B) are the 2 closest capital cities in the world. To cross between them you'll need a visa - and make sure your visa for the country you're leaving is valid for multiple entries, otherwise you'll have to get a new one to come back, too. To get across, the cheap option is the ferry, but it stands until it's full enough to go, and many of the places have minimal shade, so be prepared for a long wait and wear sunscreen! Alternatively, you can ride across in a speedboat as the only passenger - as of late 2007 this cost about GB£ 120.
