About Copenhagen Planning a Trip to Copenhagen
Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark If you're short of time in Copenhagen, you can get a really good overview of the city by taking a boat from the Nyhavn. It's also the best way to see the Little Mermaid without having to fight through the tourists. Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark This city is stunning, if you wish to see the best sight of the city with limited time, rent a bike and hit the road with those two wheels. Don't worry if there will be too many cars. It's the only city in the world that the mayor also rides his bike to work everyday. :) Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark I stayed at the GO Hotel in Copenhagen. It was a budget hotel and I payed over 300 USD for three nights. This was the cheapest place I could find. This hotel is more ideal for solo travelers and I do not recommend coming here if you a family. It is not family friendly. The bathroom was very small and the shower head was hanging over the toilet. If you are not a fan of showering, this place could be perfect for you. Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark If you're up for a little adventure, be sure to visit Christiania, a small self-governed region of Denmark in the middle of Copenhagen. It's not for everyone, you should definitely keep your wits about you, and you must obey the citizens rules (absolutely no photography!). If you approach them with an open-mind and try to stay away from the touristy tendencies, the residents are very friendly and many of them probably have very interesting stories to tell. There is a market so you can buy a locally-made souvenir as well. Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark Watch out if intending to change money at the Copenhagen International Airport (Kastrup). An Italian company, Forexchanges , has set up shop at the airport givinga low rate as well as charging 30 Danish Kroner (4 Euro) for the task. On top of this (!) they charge 14.9 percent of the sum exchanged !! One would not think this was legal in Denmark. In all, if you change 50 Euros you would get the equivalent of Euros 38,50 !
In fact Forexchanges ape the Forex company, which gives the best rates in Denmark (and Sweden). There are also two banks at the Airport, Danske Bank and Nordea both charging a commission of 30 Danish Kroner (but with a lesser rate than Forex). Forex you can find at the Copenhagen Central Station. The train from the Airport goes straight to Copenhagen Central (12 minutes), you can buy your ticket at the Airport with a credit card (Visa, Master, Amex, Diners). At the Central Station beware of pick-pockets, the only place in Denmark, where such, notably from Romania, seem common. Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark Top tip - pop into the tourist office and pick up a 'walking map' of Copenhagen. Gives you a wonderful walking tour of Copenhagen and you can choose how long a route to take which brings you past all the important landmarks and out of the main high streets. Otherwise spend the day in Tivoli, one of the best theme parks in the world! Good tip? (+2) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark You really have to go to Nyhavn, lovely atmosphere! Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark Bring lots of money its very expensive Good tip? (0) Copenhagen, Hovedstaden Region, Denmark if you go in autumn visit Dyrhave in the north of the city, very nice forest with the oldest amusement park in Europe Good tip?
