This tiny east African country is situated just north of the Horn of Africa. It’s location at the entrance of the Red Sea has made it strategically important, more so with industry and military than with tourism. Popular as a stopover en route to Ethiopia, Djibouti, the country’s capital serves as the primary stopover for tourists, where there is easy access to the coast. Much of the land comprises vast wastelands, with volcanic desert occupying over 90% of the land. Average temperatures are 32°C and extreme July temperatures ranging up to 45°C.  Djibouti is one of the hottest places to be on earth. Literally! Kohr Ambado Beach is a good place for swimming and snorkeling, and the Grande Pecherie is an interesting waterfront fish market to visit. This former French territory still shows heavy French influences.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Djibouti
Accessible by speed boat from Djibouti city, Moucha island  us part of a series  of small islands. Not equipped of any facility a part of some houses of wealthy families, it is the ideal spot for a couple of days of camping. Blue lagoon sea, sun and scuba diving.
Possibility to hire a speed boat from the fishing harbor, there is a need to be completely self sufficient, in food, waters etc...for the number of days planned.
Avoid WE (Thursday afternoon and Friday in this country) as it is crowded with expatriates and chartered trips organized by some hotel.
Some times the island is fully booked, so please check before going, never the less, other islands there as well.

magnifico
