About Dominican Republic Planning a Trip to Dominican Republic
Boca Chica, South Coast, Dominican Republic Hamaca (Coral Hamaca). The Hamaca is generally regarded as the best and most expensive property in Boca Chica. This is a large high-rise hotel, with multiple restaurants, a disco, casino, multiple shops, two pools, and a private beach that is off-limits to anybody not staying at the hotel. It is a full-service all-inclusive fortress and I usually recommend this hotel to first-time visitors to Boca Chica. Good tip? (0) San Felipe de Puerto Plata, North Coast, Dominican Republic Avoid the tourist malls in Puerta Plata, the prices are pretty high. If you can get a guide to take you into the city, you can barter prices easier. Be careful of this too though, the guides will take you to shops owned by family members and they will try to overcharge, so be strong and don't be afraid to say, "to much!" At the beaches avoid eye contact with the venders it is the best way to keep them from following you around trying to get you to buy their trinkets. Unless of course you want to buy them. When you leave your resort, just about everyone around will try to get you to take their cab or go on a tour of some sort, just say no and keep walking if you start talking to them they will take up a lot of your time. Be friendly but stern. Good tip? (0) Dominican Republic I was visiting Dominikan Republic, last year.Spent 2 fantastic weeks being based in Punta Cana.I was lucky enough not to being put in closed resort with all inclusive, this way i did to travel and explore the Island all the way to haitian border. There is really not much I can write about Punta Cana ,part of being strictly turist place. All you have to do is take a local transport(small van for 5 pesos) to take you to a bus stand (which happen to be a road junction) and wait for a proper coach to appear, ask the driver for a destination and jump on.Trip to Santo Domingo takes around 5 hours, but its totally worth it. Once you there ,take a taxi to Colonial Zone, the oldest city in "The Americas". The first cathedral, monastery, university, customs house and hospital in "The World" were build here. Dont let the driver to take you to an expensive hotel, they earn comission out of us-tourist;-)just ask to be drop off anywhere in a Zone and walk around .There are plenty of cheap hotels to choose from,so no worries.Place is fantastic, has a lot to offer and everything withing walking distance. On your way back dont forget to see the famous church in Hiquey ! Good tip? *lach* Ein bischen Action im Urlaub tut doch immer gut *g* Good tip? (+1) Juan Dolio, South Coast, Dominican Republic The Embassy Suites is very nice...and they had a free shuttle to a nice quiet beach Good tip? (+1) Dominican Republic Since this country is so close to the equator, the sun's rays are much stronger. I highly recommend sunblock at all times especially if you are fair skinned. I also recommend bringing aloe vera gel as it can be difficult to find Good tip? (+1) El Pueblecito, North Coast, Dominican Republic Love it. Not the best idea to wander around on your own but a great place to see. Good tip? (0) Santo Domingo, Capital Region, Dominican Republic Una pobreza increible... la tumba de Colon (creer o reventar) es un monumento impactante. Good tip? (0) Top Cities in Dominican Republic |
