ADD TO LIST
Dili is East Timor's largest city and the country's capital. Located along the northern shores of East Timor, Dili was first settled by the Portuguese in 1520. Today, the city still contains many colonial buildings and monuments in the main city core even though large parts of the city were destroyed in 1999 during the military uprising. Monuments include the Saint Mary Column and the Cristo Rei of Dili. Dili and Macau are also some of the two best places to find Portuguese cooking in Asia.
