Travel Tips from people who've been to Canoa
To get here you can take a plane to Manta ($130 roundtrip from Quito, 30 minute flight) or a bus to Manta or Bahia de Caraquez ($10 or 12, 7 or 8 hours), then a taxi to Bahia de Caraquez ($35, 1 1/2 hours) if you arrived to Manta by plane or bus, the taxi will drop you off at the place (a small dock) where you take a boat to San Vicente ($0.30, 10 minutes), and finally you can take a taxi ($4) or a bus ($0.30) or a bike taxi ($4) to go to Canoa (15 minutes). Complicated? haha... but it's totally worth it!!! Good tip? (0) There many options... if you like comfort you can go to the place I went to... Hosteria Canoa, pretty nice place, pool, hot water, AC, right in front of the ocean ($75 for a room includes breakfast and dinner). If you want something cheap there are many options: Hotel Bambu, nice, right in front of the ocean, lots of foreigners (from $5 a night), Hostal Coco Loco, terrible small as you go in... all I know haha... and many others. Good tip? (0) In downtown Canoa (not to big by the way) there are several small bars right in front of the ocean with loud music playing all the time where you can get coctails or beer and other kind of drinks, karaoke bars, clubs, etc. Good tip?
