02819Dahshur (50 km) south of Cairo is the most southern pyramid site of the Cairo region and has 2 very nice pyramids almost as big as the Giza ones: the red pyramid and the rhomboedral pyramid. Nice desert site off the tourist tracks and hassling vendors. Expect 200 EGP to go there from central Cairo by taxi and return after some bargaining.
